So I’m trying to decide on an outer shell for elk hunting in Colorado second season rifle. The jacket will also be used for mule deer and pronghorn next year. I’m stuck betweeen the kuiu axis hybrid jacket in valo and the first lite uncompahgre foundry jacket in cipher. I know the camo doesn’t...
So I’m looking at two jackets and one is a first lite. I’ve heard about issues with durability compared to kuiu or Sitka. Do you have any experience with them? Both the kuiu and first lite are on sale so unsure which would be better.
So I just got the comfort fit and they are a little tight on the sides and I have an ever so tiny heel slip (maybe 1/8 of an inch). Is this normal for the break in? I know they are pretty stiff boots. The heel slip is ever so slight, like the pressure isn’t on the heel anymore and I feel a...
Gotcha, I’ll go ahead and try and hand tighten. It seems like it’s pretty hard to overtighten the screw by hand with a screwdriver. I might ask the gunsmith at the shooting range if he has a torque wrench too and if he could tighten to spec before I shoot
Tooth and claw… it’s a podcast about animal attacks. I find it very informative and honestly… one of the funniest podcasts I’ve ever listened to. The attacks aren’t funny but the commentary truly is. It’s run by a bear biologist, his little brother and his little brothers friend. So you have the...
Can’t beat the price of an OnX annual membership. It’s even nice for when your significant other wants to go on a hike and you don’t trust them leading the way!
Also, after talking to my dad he said he hasn’t put more than 10 rounds in the rifle since owning it because of one shot kills so I bet fouling isnt the culprit. I think this rifle wasn’t made for the elk rounds I’m using due to the rifle twist. I’ll make sure everything is tight before I shoot...
I guess at the end of the day, the 2” grouping I’m getting isn’t terrible for a big body animal like an elk, especially since I’m hunting in heavily forested area
After research it looks like the Nikons do fail. Unfortunately I’m trying to not buy another scope since budget is tight and I’ve already dropped co much money on other gear to get ready. I think I’ll just get that sako with the trijicon already on it and practice a few times. A month should be...
The scope is solid, the Nikon buckmaster is what we have in half our rifles. I’ll check the screws though. Do they need to be torqued or just make sure they are tight?
So lead sled can throw off accuracy? Also I looked at the barrel end and definitely see copper fowling. I shot from a lead sled a month ago with a different round that was actually too heavy of a grain for the rifle twist. I think I’ll go ahead and fly the sako out here also just in case. If I...
Optic is a buckmaster scope nothing fancy. This rifle has killed so many deer so idk why it’s acting up now. Now I’m worried the stock is damaged. I’ll have to look. Do I need to flex the stock to look for cracks opening? Do you think it could be copper fowling as well?
I tried on the danner pronghorns and they were tight in the instep and the crispi’s I tried on were just huge volume wise. How do the comfort fits stack up to these other brands?
