Let's Talk Home & Auto Insurance Companies

We use Amica. When we've had claims they have payed. Haven't had an issue or problem. I believe they are the oldest auto insurer in the US. No local agents....which personally I always found useless anyway. Is Amica the cheapest? I don't know. Probably not. I stopped comparing them based on...

    Houston, TX

As an update, my daughter found an apartment near Grand Parkway and Westpark Tollway. More of a suburban area and relatively boring but it's what she was looking for. She works 7 days a week right now and 14 hour days aren't unusual. She is in the office working as I am typing this as an...

    300wsm vs 7prc vs 7rem mag?

When comparing calibers, I would consider availability of components and ammo. Which one can you find brass for easily? Can you find H1000 or RL 25 to reload for the PRC? Powder for a 7 mag might be easier to find. Can you find loaded ammo on a shelf at a local store if you needed it? IMO...

    Houston, TX

It's the same all over. My middle son lives in KC and my truck has been broken into a few times visiting. I was towing an empty trailer once and they cut the locks off at 3 am. Nothing in it and they took off. We are looking at apartments over towards Katy to start and go from there. She will...

How do you deal with suicide....

When one member of a family commits suicide the odds of another doing the same goes up significantly. A family I grew up with up the street lost two kids to it. They were good people. It can happen in the best of families and mental illness can be difficult to fix. I don't judge.

    Off season for the dogs

Made arrangements with another Vizsla owner to bring my young Vizsla over to her house this week, so I can work my dog on honoring. He's going to his first AKC hunt test in April so I want to tighten things up. Going to buy some quail next week and just keep working on the basics. Great time of...

Newberg says a $40 elk tag (or whatever it cost) is a $25,000 elk tag for residents.

First, there isn't any correlation whatsoever between local cost of living and what Montana charges for out of state hunting. Second....Federal taxpayers pay billions to fund the State of Montana operating budget. Third....Montana residents didn't pay for the Federal land or even all of the...

    Off season for the dogs

Warm weekend in the KC area. Was able to go out with the local Vizsla club and work with my 2 year old Vizsla both days. Did training over birds yesterday to steady him up and ran him in a mock SH hunt test this morning over quail.

    Well....I've had enough

Appreciate your concern. I'm clearly not communicating very well on this issue but there really isn't anything I am doing that is dangerous or uninformed. I'll be fine in the short term. I'm drinking plenty of fluids and eating healthy. Recommended calories per day for a man of my age starts at...

    Well....I've had enough

My calories will increase as needed and a high calorie and fat diet is what got me here, so I'm reducing it. It isn't going to be long term. When I'm talking about low fat, I'm talking about getting bacon, Italian sausage, ice cream, soda's and fast food off the menu and replaced with relatively...

    Well....I've had enough

You are right. One mistake people make is putting on weight over years and trying to take it off in days or a few weeks. When it doesn't work quickly they quit. The rabbit doesn't win this race....the turtle does. This isn't going to be quick and it's going to take time to get to where I want...

    Well....I've had enough

I've done 3 day fasts before years ago but I was in significantly better physical condition. It did provide some short term benefits when I was trying to get to a specific weight goal but I found it isn't something I can or want to do consistently. That's me though. A lot of ways to skin a cat...

    Well....I've had enough

Thanks for the ideas and thoughts. I think I've got a pretty good idea of what to do. I've been around a lot of athlete's, strength coaches and nutritionists. My dad was a HOF coach and my son was a D1 athlete. I've spent years in weight rooms hanging out with coaches and trainers....just not...

    Well....I've had enough

I went elk and pheasant hunting this year. Passed on 3 spike bulls in Colorado and got 3 weeks of bird hunting in South Dakota. Had fun but I wasn't happy with my conditioning or stamina at all. Moved too slow and got tired too quickly. Look like an old man and hunted like one. Wife has had some...

If you are not happy w/your Doc FIRE THEM!!!

I stay local for simple every day stuff. When something is really wrong or major surgery is suggested we go to the Mayo Clinic. My oldest son and daughter both had serious heath issues that were misdiagnosed by local doctors and Mayo figured out the correct diagnosis in less than 2 days. In my...
