Completely clueless on these but in need of something a little stronger than my Vortex 18X56 UHD binoculars for whitetail hunting in west Texas. I use the binoculars for finding them but would like to get something I can get more detailed view of the antlers etc from 500-800 ish yards. May...
Just get a cheap plastic ammo can for $5 at Walmart and buy the external battery cord on amazon $10. Throw in an old 12v from your feeder and call it a day. Will last all season. I don't have any trees so solar panel isn't an option where we are.
It's with some buddies who are pros so 5 shot groups and cleaned each time. Seekins actually got back to me in less than 10 min via email. Sounds like they want 60-70 rounds down before we send it back. Only have 34 rnds down so far.
I have the Seekins Element in 6.5 PRC but it isn't grouping well with the Hornaday 143 ELDX ( 1 1/4 in @ 100 yds) or Terminal Ascent 130 gr Federal ( 1 1/2 in @ 100 yds). Has been cleaned after each session.
Should I try something else first or contact Seekins?
Pretty sure we used the same group, but it's been 20 years so I could def be wrong. Bears were catching more than we were up the waterfall for sure haha. Momma and 3 cubs. Was there a deer stand in the water beside you when ya fished that the Game Wardens would sit in? That was fun but...
I drove from Texas with a buddy, the drive may have been the best part. But sounds like that would eat too much of your time. Ferry from Washington State was pretty pricey back then.
I would spend all my time in the Kenai Peninsula (Kenia, Homer, Seward etc), We were mainly Salmon fishing so...
Looking for more of a shooting tripod, shorter length like bipods. Saw the new Hoplite but $600 seems a tad steep? Anything similar to that yall suggest? Weight isn't that much of an issue, usually only walk a couple of miles and I travel lite. Have shooting sticks as well but spend a lot of...
Ive been taking my TMobile Home internet box with me. They tell your it has to stay at your house but you can use it anywhere. I can get about 6-7 Mbps at my lease which lets me call etc. Have gotten 130 Mbps not far away in extremely rural areas. Might be worth a shot.
TMobile had some hand sized mobile hotspots I used but the new lease is in the middle of no where and T-Mobile has no service. So I am looking as well.
I was actually looking at the VX-5 instead of the 6, doesn't seem like the jump up is anything I would need. But definitely interested in the Maven RS1.2 it is just out of stock at the moment. And yes this forum has now made me waste lots of time on the internet hahaha.
Thanks
@Formidilosus Is there more of a hunting scope that has some longer range capabilities you would suggest? Have read some good things about Steiner t6i 2.5-15 &3-18X56, Leica AMPLUS 6 2.5-15X50, could save up for a Zero Compromise or tangent theta but they seem like overkill for what I'll need...
Im not very knowledge on scopes obviously : ) Was trying to get something that could handle both hunting and long range target. But with 2 young kids, for the next several years it will be mostly used for hunting inside 500 yds for sure. Def open to any recommendations for more of a "hunting"...
