    Camp locations

I understand it could and will be very weather dependent. but I’ll be in eastern Idaho. So generally speaking. What would your opinion be on this?

    Camp locations

Will this hold true the first week of September? The only flattish ground is down in the bottom near water at 8200ft. Or just of the ridge top at 10200. The worry about being up high is I think I’ll be right in some great mule deer habitat. 😬 also limited water.

The area I’ll be hunting is the same way and that is what’s limiting camp locations.

    Camp locations

We will be backpack hunting away from the truck. Plan to go as light as we can so we have the ability to move camp easy and go with the flow like you said.

    Camp locations

Maybe a dumb question. But being new to the western hunting and this being my first mule deer hunt. I’m curious on where to camp. Should I be looking high on the Mountain for camp or should I look low. I’m mostly worried about scent from our camp and fire blowing into the areas we may be...

Thank you for the advice. When it comes to tarps I planed on packing one for the exact reason you stated. When it comes to tarps tho do you have any experience with the dyneema tarps? Are they worth the money or not so much. Hard to spend $300 on a tarp but maybe I’m really missing out.

    Temps to expect.

Plan on being there the first 2 weeks. Need to get myself a puffy. Have a vest but not a jacket. Are a pair of paints also something to look into? Or are they just going to added weight?

    Temps to expect.

As FNG I’m trying to learn a lot here. After being lucky enough to pick up an otc mule deer tag in Idaho. I plan on archery hunting the high county. My unit is in the south east part of the state but we plan to be up around 9k to 10k feet for camp. So to that what temperatures sure I expect. I’m...

How many of us regularly shoot at long distance for practice?

Most of the summer I take a few warm up shots at 30 and 40 then I’m mostly shooting form 50-80 push it back to 100 before the Tac event. Then a few weeks before season I dial it back into 20-50 and make sure my shots are on point for season.

Thanks for the info. Plan on spending most of our time chasing mule deer so we will be above 9000 feet 90 percent of the time!

    Snakes during archery season

Anyone that’s hunted Idaho in the early season have any info on the snakes. Head into Salmon- Challis NF this September and wondering if snake gators should be on my list of things to pack. Will have a closed tent with floor because I will just have an heart attack and die of I wake up cuddling...

    FNG questions

I’ve got On X and go hunt, so I’ve already been diving into them setting pins and looking into promising areas. my main questing arose because I was looking at the topo lines and started questions how step the stuff I was looking at was going to be. Most of it will be ok until we get to the top...
