I tried two other brands, same issue in all three. I'm not normally a rubber boots kind of hunter, but it's what's recommended for my Newfoundland moose hunt next year. Thank you for the input
That's good to know it's not just me, and there is a remedy. I always were a liner sock, and a wool sock. I think I may also put on those skin patches, I can't think of what it's called. Thank you
Trying to get everything ready for moose in Newfoundland next fall. I like the feel of the boot, one size smaller, and I can't get them off. Has anyone had this problem, and would adding a felt sole insert helped tighten them up?
I have the Mountain Extreme 1000's, and have had great luck with them in bad weather, but if the ground is loose, muddy, or slick they won't stick better than any other cleated boot. What they do though is fit incredibly well, give awesome ankle support, and allow comfort when climbing.
today was my latest test day. 51.2gr of TAC, and bullet seated to 2.790" very compressed load. got it dialed in at 100yds, average muzzle velocity was 2639fps. I ordered my free turret from Leupold, and at some point I'll be testing it out to 200 and 300yds.
I'm driving up to Newfoundland next year for moose. Is there a preference of border crossing with firearms, and meat? Houlton/Woodstock on I-95 or St Stephen on US1?
I was still contemplating taking my pack frame because its very light, and if it's within my weight limit, why not, right? It's an Exo Mountain, and with the smallest bag doesn't weigh much
a few years ago when I started elk hunting in CO, I was planning on hiking in, and camping all over the mountains during 2nd rifle season. I bought a Big Agnes bivy, and a Kelty 0deg bag. We got hit with some snow, and 10deg weather in OH during Feb, so I set it up in our yard, and slept in it...
any issues bringing back unprocessed meat? I suppose proof of sex still attached? deboned in camp? I'm booking through an outfitter with fly-in camps. I've read a few stories where guys who use processors end up with 75-100 pounds less than expected.
I went ahead and ordered the full set to see how if I liked it. It feels durable enough to wear the pants over maybe just insulated under pants. I will probably put the coat in my backpack, and wear my Kuiu jacket which isn't rain proof, but will repel light moisture. If it is full on rain, I'll...
The outfitter said we'd be walking 1-2mi average, no more than 3-4mi at most. I want something breathable like the FL sets because when I say I sweat easily, I mean I really sweat. I'd be unbearable to be around, lol. They said expect a marshy so I figured full time pants, but a lighter jacket...
I'm thinking of buying a more heavy duty rain pant, First Lite Omen, but packable jacket like their Vapor Stormlight jacket. Any thoughts from experienced hunters?
At first I was set to order the First Lite Omen jacket and pants, but what about just the Omen pants, but the Vapor coat? Walking in marshy areas I can see needing full time rain pants, but may a more packable jacket over layered clothing. Any insight is appreciated.
