Same with Arizona, they don’t show the actual draw data or max points round data anymore, they are just showing some hybrid percents which are close to worthless. It’s more nuanced than that, toprut had it right, now it’s ruined. Why buy toprut if they were just going to mess it all up.
I don’t know if I’m a more conservative driver or what but I’ve been hunting the west for 20 years in 4x4s and never needed a winch or come along. I don’t rock crawl while hunting so maybe that’s it? Haha I bring recovery ropes and shackles and have been able to yank a few people out of...
It was never going to replace big spotters, but when you don’t want a big spotter weight penalty for backpack type stuff, that’s where they come in. I love my ATX but on my backpack sheep hunt next year I’ll be taking an ATC or STC.
You can technically have others help you as long as they have a hunting license and bring a weapon like 22 etc with them so that they are also legally “hunting rabbits, coyotes”. Or they need a state land permit, technically.
Being from AZ though, most residents don’t know any better and treat...
They are very different from mule deer. Very wired. They can rut pretty hard. The glassing to hunt them is the fun part and will test your skills, and boy can they disappear. And you need to know how to reach out with some longer shots.
Have you considered a scaled back schedule, work 3 days a week… spend more time doing things you want to do, see how it goes? Before jumping all the way out? I know some guys that retired early that end up very bored (can only solo trip so much before it gets a bit old, several threads here...
Both of these are from walking from the house in AZ. The herd is hit and miss nearby though, some years there will be a herd of 20 does during the rut to keep and eye on, some years there are no deer within miles. We quail hunt out back as well. And have trapped bobcats.
I'm also hoping the market comes up with more after market adapters for the NL Pure Gen 2 fitment. It looks like Outdoorsmans has one that is out of stock, but don't see anyone else that has a solution. I'm going to run NL Pure 10x and I have Vortex 18s that I switch back and forth alot with so...
I did google “Ear Pro” thinking everyone had bought some brand of protection I was unaware of haha. Newer to the forum here, obv. Living in rural AZ, suppressors have not caught on at all, not a single one of my hunting friends or family have or hunt with a suppressor. I have never been on an...
AZ just passed a restrictive UTV law. Have to have a drivers license to operate, no kids machines any more, and will have to take a class to drive starting in 2025…
Love them while you have them. When they start moving out you won’t be wishing you had gone on more hunting trips by yourself, you just won’t. When I had two very little kids I went on some hunting trips that I should not have, leaving my wife to carry the load that still haunts me because it...
You can only get money back legally if the guy has a bunch of money and you are first in line, or you get a judgement and wait for him to earn it off over a decade? But there will be other people with their hands out as well. Chances are the guy is broke and has lots of debt on top…
Wow sounds like a mess of a process, you guys were lucky to have anchored your bulls it sounds like or the the trip would have been much less of a success haha.
All my best elk spots were random “scouted areas didn’t work so let’s just pull the truck over and go for a hike” type deals… so don’t be afraid to throw some blind casts every now and then.
