Thought I might add to this even though its an older thread..
I have the SHV in MIL R and an ATACR 4-20 in MIL C. MIL R is OK but I like the granularity of a MIL C. If i go with another SHV I'd probably go with a MILXT simply for those .2th wind hold.
I simply prefer a pass through if it doesn’t drop where it stands. I’ve preferred the accubonds simply because of the data behind them and their manufacturing process. I think the margin of error with poor performance is reduce because it’s designed to stay together. From what I have seen with...
How it kills? A broad head or a lead ball will kill. What’s your point? That’s not what was asked or the intent of this thread. A simple dissenting opinion gets a lot of flack if it isn’t littered with Berger or eld.
They are expensive, at least by today’s retail prices. I remember a time they were around $50 a box and have always shot well with little load work up; perhaps some luck was involved.
I would have to disagree on performance though. Those eld x are nothing more than a cup core projectile...
I shoot only tikka and sako. They were quick to pick up the 6.5 prc. Hopefully they’ll do the same with the 7. Evolved ballistics does have a 7prc prefit that I’ve been considering.
In fact, I’ve ran a few prs matches with the shv line. Any instance that has a mild stress component I never notice the turrets being an issue. Holdover/dial and reticle consistency with a ffp is where it counts. Love the shv…I think they’re wildly underrated for what they are.
I have had the shv line for several years and bought two of them at different times. They aren’t crisp but at least they’re consistent and track like they should, for me, I have full confidence in them. I like the repeatability and know exactly what I’m going to get
I have two of the ctr in 260. Absolutely love them. For a shorter barrel I’m able to get 2800 fairly easy with a 130 class bullet. McMillan and manners have inlets for the ctr bottom metal.
