Didn't add anything to this thread, but followed it used a few of the tips. Newer to the backcountry thing myself. Good work man, fan of the hat creek shirt as well.
"SKEDCO" sleds are a bullet-proof option IMO. Though not cheap, they will hold up and pack down nicely. Luckily I can just borrow mine. Built for rescuing patients, they are much longer than the sleds marketed for hunting and roll around the sides as well and protect your meat from being brushed...
Sometimes it's just like that. Great hunts can come from some of the most uncommon or undesirable starts. Best duck hunt of my fathers life started with paddling the layout boat with shotgun butts after the motor quit. All in all great write up, thanks for putting this out there.
Transplant from MO, here for a couple of years so trying to get the most out of my WA experience. Mainly get after the Turkey and Elk here in WA. Took some time and hard work to get it done, but had luck with both. Looking to branch out this coming season.
Looking for a little guidance, 2nd yr. archery backcountry elk hunting. Spent some time in the area I frequent this June and July, but like usual, the elk were low and not using the areas they frequent during September. Recently, I’ve had some good bulls on camera so I know they’re moving up...
