2024 British Columbia Buck!
Unfortunately I forgot the back straps in my garage fridge and then went off to work for a week. Does anyone reckon they will be OK aged that long? They've developed a tough-ish dark exterior but no smell or slime.

Beautiful goat! Sorry about your mount mishap! As much as I dislike waiting the 18-24mo that my taxi takes, the job is always top notch; the long timeframe and quality seem to go hand in hand.
I think next time I drop something off, I'll pay the extra $150 and have them euro mount the skull +...
Fair enough, have any other angles? At first glance I would have thought 160 on that guy! I must be over judging him by 1.5" on each tine and 1/4" on each mass measurement. That would put it closer to 159...
That's one thing about judging deer, whereas you can use references all you like but...
This year's buck came in around gross 148". The G2s are right around 13"s and the bases are 4.25".
As I've read elsewhere on the forum, a 4x4 Mulie can get to 140" pretty easily.
Best I've learned, is that if you watch enough 4x4 bucks you'll eventually see one that makes you say WOAH, that...
I think you're slightly underestimating. I'd say those G2s are closer to 15" at least, then making the G3s more like 6-7"s so you're leaving a good 15"s on the table making him closer to 140. Also in my personal experience, unless he's 'looking' spindly, those base masses are probably closer to...
I did my first Mtn goat hunt with an eberlestock dragonfly 1 which seems similar. It has the plastic internal "gossamer"? insert that helps with some rigidity in the pack. It was fine for packing 40lbs up the mountain 6kms but 110lbs back down the mountain and it was really hurting my hips.
I...
I like the idea! I'll post up 4 different bucks in awhile for some practice!
For the buck pictured, I guessed only the left side of the first picture. My guess was 18" G2, 22" main! So I guess I over estimated by 1" gross!

That pack out picture is awesome! Post that up in the Mule Deer Hunting Photo Contest thread for sure!
Congratulations on an awesome trip!

Coming from completely left field here (Northern BC), I recently skipped over a podcast from Vortex about sage and bitterbrush planting to help Mule deer populations... Now just learning that so many areas in the west are struggling with their Mulie pops I'll have to have a listen to it.

I'm sitting on the couch comparing a Gross 160" next to a Gross 170" while looking at your buck, and it's leaning more to the 160 side so my guess will be 164" Gross.
