    Sitting water etiquette

For sure! I think having three or four days this summer to really drive around and scout will help me form a good game plan. Appreciate the reply

    Sitting water etiquette

Definitely will be ready to spot and stalk if needed! Yea I’m not gonna go anywhere where there is already blinds. I’ll try to get there a day or two early. Hopefully locate some animals with the trail cameras and find a spot with no blind. If I can’t find that, I’ll belly crawl around for a...

    Sitting water etiquette

It does sound fun, but also sounds like I would need some luck to get it done. I have never been there, so if the terrain looks like it could be productive for spot and stalk i definitely will try that!

Thanks for the replies. Sounds like I should just get up early and go setup a blind at an unoccupied water hole in the dark. That’s disappointing that people might mess with the trail cams. There is 200 tags across three units for this hunt. Being my first antelope hunt I’m not exactly sure what...

    Sitting water etiquette

I’m sure this may have been discussed but I drew an archery antelope tag for August this year and planning on getting a blind and sitting water. It’s an out of state hunt but I’ll get over there once this summer to scout the road system and put trail cams up on some watering holes. It will be my...

Best time for Oregon spring bear

Just spent 5 days in NE Oregon chasing spring bears. Only saw three bears in the 5 days. Saw lots of elk, mule deer, and whitetail. My question is regarding when to go. I was at about 4800 feet and there was no snow. Everything was starting to get green up including north facing slopes. I had a...

    Oregon spring Bear

So if there’s not color overlay on the map that means there’s no snow?

    Oregon spring Bear

I drew sled springs/chesnimus this year. Any advice on how to determine the snow level? I don’t wanna go too early and not be able to get around at all. I know we have gotten a lot of snow this year.

2023 OFFICIAL ELK MEAT POLE THREAD

Here is my 2023 Idaho general bull. Me and my buddy had never been to this unit before and got there a few days early to scout. We saw a few elk. But no groups. Mostly solo bulls. Opening day we decided my buddy would go after a group of three 5x5s and I would go after a big solo bull we had...

6.5 Creedmoor Hornady 140 ELDM for Bull Elk

I would not hesitate to shoot an elk with a 6.5 creedmoor. In fact I probably will one day. My only hesitation is the match bullet. I can’t imagine it would preform will if you hit the shoulder. Just my two cent but I would probably shoot a mono metal bullet instead. However if your confident...

I live outside of Portland now but my family has a small cabin out in Nehalem. I lived out there for five years when I was a fishing guide before I switched careers. You will love it out there. I love my new job but it doesn’t allow me to live at the coast and I really miss that.

I think elk is my favorite. Followed by blacktail deer, then mule deer, then black bear. I love it all though.

Hello all, been listening to the rokcast for a while now and figured I would join the forum. I’m 31 years old and live in Oregon. I did not grow up in a hunting family and introduced myself to it when I was about 25 years old. Over the last several years it has become an absolute obsession. I...
