    Dogs Terrified of New Mounts

I have a bunch of taxidermy and when a new one shows up my dog will bark at it for a day or two then get over it, kind of funny.

    Snow levels in Montana?

I just got back from hunting outside of the Ennis area on Saturday and the roads aren’t bad, I would have chains for your pick up just to be safe but I got around in my Polaris ranger everywhere I need to go just fine.

    Which optic for glassing

Don’t you love when you ask a question people answer it with something that you were not asking about… I just got the 12 x 42 NLs, I have had the 15+56 and 10 els for years and just upgraded to the NLs. The NL‘s are unbelievable and on a different level than anything I have looked through but...

    Scope moving in rings

Use the Burris rings with plastic inserts, I have used them on many heavy recoiling rifles with zero issues. The other benefits to them are moa elevation and side to side adjustment. I always put the scope in the middle of its adjustment and then mount it you can’t do that with standard rings,a...

    Plumber help please

Yes I would go at least 18 inches and one of the things people do is they put strain on the fittings because the pipe is somewhat flexible when it is new. Do not put any strain on the fittings because they will eventually crack.

    Plumber help please

I am a plumber and have been doing this for almost 30 years and have used all different types of piping, at the end of the day it depends on if you want to spend the extra money on pex and have the proper tool which is $1000 unless you can rent it somewhere. You can buy packs in a 300 foot rule...

    Swarovski warranty for new binoculars

7 year old Els with the diopter going out of focus and worn tore off eyecups from heavy use. They fixed everything and completely went through them for free, didn’t even charge for shipping.

1000+ Yard, Cross Canyon, hunting hit %

A lot of what you are talking about I agree with but the fact that you think a smaller gun will out shoot it maybe for the average person but I have very similar guns to what you are listing, 6 mm dasher, 65 284, 28 Nosler and none of them will come close to the wind drift variables that the 338...

1000+ Yard, Cross Canyon, hunting hit %

Out at my buddies 2000 acre ranch, solid shooting bench or prone off bipods only. If you use anything other than what you’re going to use in the field the point of impact will be different, early in the morning with zero wind to have a dead on zero. I shoot out there up to 1500 yards to verify...

1000+ Yard, Cross Canyon, hunting hit %

The 338 caliber‘s with bigger bullets and faster speed do make a big difference shooting that distance, I don’t shoot that big of a gun because the animals need that kind of energy to die it is because the wind can vary and that is the most difficult part about shooting long range. My gun has a...

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

No I haven’t but it’s just one of those things if I don’t feel comfortable shooting it and 100% confident at long range shooting targets I’m not going to do it with an animal in, I think it will be fine once I get it dialed in

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

Yes you can do all kinds of unethical things at long and short range, And I don’t blame people for being against it sometimes because a lot of people that have gotten into it by watching YouTube and not verifying their weapons have given it a bad name.

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

I have been doing it for years way before it was a fad I practice a lot and know how to read the wind I have taken elk , bears up to and over 1000 yards one shot kills, If there’s too much wind and is unethical I don’t take the shot. Here again just cause you can’t do it or want to stop judging...

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

You’re right about that it’s the range time, and trying to shoot very small groups at all the ranges I want to shoot out to. I will not shoot at a game animal unless I have it shooting 1/2 moa at all ranges. This wasn’t my first choice at all for a build but it was done and ready to go so I...

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

This thread isn’t about your opinion on long range hunting, if you can’t contribute move on, just because you can’t do it or it’s not your thing whatever move on. Being able to shoot something long range is hunting. Takes lots of practice, no different than bowhunters that take shots 60 yards...

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

There’s a lot of big canyons that I hunt where you’re on foot for several miles and you need to shoot a cross one, either the animal gets away or you have to be able to shoot 1000 yards plus to make the kill. Yes I will always try and get closer if I can but sometimes it isn’t possible so it’s...

    338 Lapua Improved recoil

Yes I was going to hunt with it, adding weight to it isn’t an option. Do you think going down to 250 grainers will make a difference?
