I finally made it to my unit. Turned what should've been 12 hours into 21 hours over two days. Talked to some other people that got stuck on I-40 for fifteen hours yesterday near Cline's corner south of Santa Fe. I bet there was at least thirty miles of traffic waiting to go east on I-40 today.
Yeah I woke up to 6 more inches at least in Clayton, NM and it was still coming down pretty good. Just back tracked to I-40 and it's much better down here. I would avoid NE new Mexico and eastern Colorado. Might be Sunday before they dig out.
Sheriff out here in New Mexico told me that 412 and 87 going out of Clayton will be closed for 24 to 48 hours a little bit ago. That most likely will be the same for Raton pass. Looks like I'll either be back tracking south to tucumcari and driving up through Santa Fe or maybe go up to Lamar and...
They closed I-25 at the raton pass and had I-40 closed as well at tucumcari. I'm waiting it out in Clayton and trying to figure out a different route. Everything was open when I left early this morning.
Yes, i was expecting a deer orgy in the middle of the highway.
I've hunted 2nd rifle before and you're right about it being tough. I was mainly concerned about snow not sticking around.
I think you're right. They should just do away with the rule. All it does is make NR feel like they're missing out on the "good hunting". Everyone wants what they can't have. All they're missing out on is longer walks and more blow down most likely.
Not going to lie, these reports don't make me feel warm and fuzzy about third season. Hopefully this turns around by the weekend. Thanks for sharing input to those that did.
Started working out in the garage after we moved twenty minutes out of town. I don't think I can go back. I can listen to my music loud and do whatever.
I do remember there was this lady that used to come into the Gold's gym that would just dance in front of the mirrors for like thirty minutes...
There was an article in the Oklahoman referenced at the beginning of this thread. Kansas didn't allow NR hunting at all. Oklahoma threatened to not allow Kansas and I think there were other states that were going to follow suit. In '94 Kansas changed the law to allow NR.
... And Texans are...
You brought up something that is important. Not just anyone with horses can take them in the mountains. It takes a different kind of horse and a lot of work.
I took a buddy on a back country hunt last year. Him and his wife raise and sell roping and barrel racing horses and he wasn't about to...
Man the freaking side by side deal is getting really obnoxious. I even have a couple guys in my neighborhood that ride them around with their kids in the evening sometimes. There's a couple guys that pick up their kids at school. It really gets old.
I've hunted with horses and mules, my dad's...
That's awesome! I've killed quite a few critters with 6.5 CM and haven't had any complaints. A suppressor or brake definitely helps with the recoil.
You're definitely being nicer then my dad was. He threw a 30-06 in my hands and told me to take it like a man 😂
Thanks. Yes sir, I stuck with the factory mag and bottom metal. It was a t3x lite blued 300 WM. I never shot it. Just bought it and took that barrel off. The 22" barrel seems like a good compromise.
