    Sierra Game King Bullets

Sierra just makes great bullets, period. I shoot steel and SMKs are my preferred bullet in factory loads in both .223 and 6.5 CM.

Stuff overheard at the range or local gun shop

On second thought, surely that’s a put on.

Stuff overheard at the range or local gun shop

Ummmmmm…….I’m……not quite as in favor of the 2nd Amendment as I was before I saw that.

    Why I won’t buy a Tikka

Well, they must be doing SOMETHING right at Savage. It’s interesting to me the number of posts I’ve read in which, after extensive bitching and moaning, a high percentage say something to the effect of, “ But the thing shoots so damn good! “. I have three Savage rifles, a110 Storm in .223...

    Why I won’t buy a Tikka

Either I don’t know the true meaning of the term “bolt slop” (entirely possible ) or neither my Tikka Super Varmint or Savage Model 12 LRPV has much if any. Then again neither are lower cost “budget” rifles like the Savage Axis line. And the Tikka Super Varmint certainly doesn’t have a “...

How did the 6.5 Creedmoor lose steam so quickly?

As did I with my new Super Varmint in 6.5 CM. I`ve only been able to zero at 100 yards a couple of more " budget friendly " factory rounds ( Hornady American Gunner 140grain and AAC 140grain SMK ). I`ve come to believe that this thing would stack shots on top of each other if the guy shooting it...

How did the 6.5 Creedmoor lose steam so quickly?

I think 6.5 CM is well enough established to be an available factory round in perpetuity like 30-06, 243, 223, 308, 22LR, etc., etc., etc.

    Tikka UPR Love

Isn`t it pretty rare that ANY sporter profile barrel, regardless of brand, doesn`t open up at least some after a very few shots ( say, 3-5 ) ? What`s the old saying? " Hunting rifles are designed to be carried a lot and shot a little. " ?

Debating an Upgrade from Ruger to Tikka CTR or UPR

Received a new Tikka Super Varmint in 6.5 Creedmoor a couple of weeks ago. Only shooting so far has been to zero a couple of factory loads. My regular shooting range was flooded by Debby and the long range venue has yet to reopen. The Super Varmint appears to be a very well put together rifle (...

WTS Bushnell Forge 15x56 binoculars ED glass BRAND NEW

Have the same binocs for range work. Very easily sees .223 splashes out to 500 ( range limit ) and 17HMR at 300 yards. I`m sure they would be fine for glassing for animals much further out. Can recommend.

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

I guess that would take our do-it-all .223 off the table then? That`s assuming, of course, that the stated minimum is something larger than .223.

    Masculinity and Caliber Choice

Just curious since I`ve never hunted big animals ( Moose, bear, elk, large African game, etc. ). Do outfitters/ guide services, whether both here or abroad, specify minimum calibers depending upon animals being hunted?

How did the 6.5 Creedmoor lose steam so quickly?

Well, they afford a lot of folks of modest means an opportunity to have a rifle that, while not as finely engineered as a Tikka perhaps, will put metal on target and meat on the table. Maybe I just lucked out, but I have to say that my 110 Storm in .223 has an action that is as smooth as my new...

How did the 6.5 Creedmoor lose steam so quickly?

Would hazard a guess that that explains a great deal of it.

How did the 6.5 Creedmoor lose steam so quickly?

Live in Georgia outside of Savannah. Asked the gun counter guy at our local PSA as to what brand of " traditional " hunting style rifles they sold the most. Guy didn`t hesitate. " Savage ". Tikkas are very nice rifles ( just bought a Super Varmint in 6.5 CM that shoots great ) but they run...

    Unsure of what, Wind Gypsy?

How did the 6.5 Creedmoor lose steam so quickly?

Mission accomplished! The Tikka Super Varmint shot great, no issues with zeroing a couple of less expensive 140 grain loads ( Hornady American Gunner and AAC with 140 SMKs ).
