I’ll give the RRS some thought. I’m currently just getting into long range shooting using .223, (haven’t even bought my elk rifle yet) so that’s why I’m hesitant to spend 1k on a tripod.
With that being said I’m definitely the “buy once, cry once” type. Maybe pushing off other gear for the time...
Don’t know the truth behind it, but from my understanding the revics are just rebranded leofoto.
Do you have any experience with those two you suggested?
I’m looking for a tripod to hold a spotter and also one that can be used for shooting, so it needs to be able to support the additional weight and still be stable when firing a rifle. I am hoping to keep the weight down as well if possible.

That’s fair. I know there is much more that goes into the hunt. I was asking about shot rangers and I think I have my answer: I need to be stress shooting at 200 and work my way up from there.

Well said. Also, I know I have passed on shots on guided upland hunts just because I’m not comfortable shooting over someone’s head (even though the guide said shoot over my head, just don’t kill me.) I’d love to take an animal but the safety of my fellow hunters and guides comes before that.
