    Victory Arrow Weight Tolerance

The last three batches of arrows I've built have been Victory arrows, although not your model. Don't remember any large variance in the first two batches, but the last ones had 1.1 gr difference in weight among 12 arrows. Having said that, I used Ethics components and Bully vanes, and I didn't...

Pelican air 1745 vs kuiu hard case

I haven't seen one in person, but I really like the idea of the Terraglide: https://www.badlandsgear.com/products/terraglide I've had a Pelican for several years now, and it does the job.

    Ethics Archery lighted nocks

Was looking at a new section on EA website, looks like they're making lighted nocks now. https://ethicsarchery.com/products/halo-nocks-fit-204-233-244-246 Anyone tried them yet?

    Nock Bushing

Only experience I have with nock bushings is the ones that come with Black Eagle Spartans, and I can tell you from experience, those particular bushings won't save your arrow if you hit it with another one.

    Arrow penetration

That could certainly be a contributing factor... but I'm more of the opinion that my chrono is not very good. I've sent everything from 440 grain 250 spine arrows (definitely not underspined with a 14 gr insert and a 100 gr field point) to arrows similar to the max on the table. Most of the...

    Arrow penetration

Same here. Had to dig for this a bit, but I bought that RF test kit Ethics used to sell a few years ago and chronoed the arrows I had at the time with all nine field point weights. I didn't get KE differences that big... less than 2% between the lightest and heaviest arrow. Only three shots...

    Arrow penetration

I am pretty sure that the above cannot be correct. A bow is a constant kinetic energy launcher. It doesn't matter what weight arrow you shoot, your KE will be roughly the same, because the same amount of potential energy in the limbs is available. Going to a heavier arrow typically yields a...

Why Shoot Right Fletching if Your Arrow Rotates CCW?

A user called 1nestly has a bunch of videos posted on YouTube that are slomo high res videos showing how quickly fletching of different types start rotating off the string (among a bunch of other videos). Spoiler alert: left fletched arrows start spinning like a top right off the string, right...

    Mathews Lift

Can't speak for everyone or all bows... for me, the 80% mods have a better back wall, shorter valley length, feel like a slightly shorter draw length for the same letter mod, yet are a couple fps faster than the 85s. I personally wish they still made 75% mods. Had those on my Halon X and...

    Best Single Bevel Broadhead?

I've used Kudus for a couple of years. My last two shots at cervids, unfortunately, both wound up spining the animal on the first shot, and required follow up shots. Following stories related for perspective on the "bone-breaking" quality of SBs. The first was a small whitetail buck. Pretty...

Where does the Garmin Xero C1 Pro determine arrow speed?

For those who have used the Garmin, does it only give the arrow speed at first detection? Or does it do the same thing as the Labradar, where it will give you several velocities at different distances, depending on how you set it?

    5mm Day Six Arrows

Thanks. So this is kind of similar to Sirius' Half Jacket, but with threads to secure the sleeve and post together, and presumably 5/16" OD instead of 11/32"?

    5mm Day Six Arrows

Does the sleeve still thread onto the post? Are the threads in the post for the FP/broadhead internal to the shaft, or are they forward of the shaft like on the HD arrows?

    Mathews monster safari

That's not really in the same ballpark bud. 300 fps with a 500 gr arrow is ~100 ft lbs of KE. 350 fps with a 435 gr arrow is ~118 ft lbs of KE. Since bows are constant KE launchers, that implies the second bow would get 326 fps with a 500 gr arrow, if I did the math right.

What arrows are you shooting...not weight but brand

I'm using Victory RIP TKOs this year, last year Sirius Orions, several years of various Black Eagle arrows before that. We'll see how this year plays out. I pretty much always build something new for the next year, and I may go back to Spartans next year. It might just be me remembering...

    Axle-to-axle length

I've only had three compound bows; a Halon X (35"), a Vertix (30"), and a VXR 31.5 (obvious). I guess I'm in the minority, but I did not see a whole lot of difference in the three. Probably affected by the fact that two of the bows have really big cams, and the Halon's limbs aren't close to...

Good broadhead vid, and why Heat vanes suck

Been using 125 gr Kudus for a couple of seasons, and that will probably be the plan again this year. My arrows came out a bit faster than I thought they would this year, and I was worried they might start planing at longer ranges, but out to 40 they seem fine. Still need to shoot longer to make...

Good broadhead vid, and why Heat vanes suck

I think the surface area between Heats and Blazers is pretty similar; Heats are not as tall, but they're longer. Don't know anything for sure, but if I had to guess I think the lack of height is why they don't work as well as Blazers at stabilizing broadheads (at least for me). Maybe the extra...
