Short Draw length elk setup.
I'm a 27.5" draw length as well. I would agree with prior posts that new bows aren't necessarily faster, just smoother and easier tuning. My hoyt faktor turbo is the same speed as core SR on comfort (435 gr arrow). Performance mod only bumps up 8fps. Not overly significant, but I do like... -

NorthWest Mountain Challenge
I have also only attended the Hoodoo event. 700 shooters is not uncommon, but never feels overcrowded with multiple courses. Great venue for the entire family. Courses are set up to be family friendly vs arrow busters. -

Quitting Alcohol
Quit drinking in 2008 due to health reasons. Never had an impact on hunting since we always had a dry elk camp. Dad's philosophy was very simple. We don't drink at elk camp, you had all summer to drink somewhere else.- tdm

To Hoody or Not to Hoody
Always need a hood. Agree with prior posts that never wear more than 2 at a time. Mid layer light hood can still be used with hooded coat. -

Arrow Build suggestions - 459gr
I love the simplicity of tuning with brass HIT 5mm axis. The only system I have seen more durable is black eagle with the footer. They seem to be more durable if deflected/glancing off of targets. When it comes to hitting hard targets with axis, they simply don't win the battle. -
