    Is traditional archery hunting unethical?

I think the OP did ask directly about profiency and acknowledged that the hardware itself was capable. I choose to hunt the way I do because I enjoy hunting more than I enjoy killing. My success is not measured in inches. Every OIL tag I have filled it was with a rifle, but elk and deer hunt...

The Chinese Wall (the one in Montana! :)) in January

Thanks for that right up. What did you do for boots and socks? It seems packs would be hell on your feet, but wet trekking boots about as bad.

    Is traditional archery hunting unethical?

I would guess that if someone asks if trad hunting is unethical, then the probably are not competent at trad or have never put any time into it at all. I think this may just be a case of not knowing any better or not knowing anyone first hand that is a trad archer. I think a first hand, face...

"The Best Killer Elk Rifles from a Guide's Perspective"

I feel like the whole .223/TMK thing has hit cult status. Not like the Goonies from the 80s was the best movie ever cult. More like let's all get together and work on space ship and then pound some Kool-aid cult.

    Snow tracks on ATV

We use SXS with tracks. At the end of the day a sled (snowmobile) is just a better tool in most circumstances.

    New Record! Colorado elk…

"when you see new hunters and clearly know they haven't a clue, should you throw a hissy fit or maybe sit with them and teach them what to do? if you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. take the time to help the new guy and shorten the learning curve, this will benefit both...

    New Record! Colorado elk…

I would humbly point out there is not an unlimited supply of new spots. There is only so much dirt in a unit. Finding a new spot is not really a solution to rampant overcrowding. That spot has a couple guys camped out too.

Would you keep a cow moose hide?

I'm not sure there is a market for green moose hide. Getting it tanned and selling seems like a wash, but I'm probably not up on the prices and market.

Would you keep a cow moose hide?

I'm leaning towards tanning it hair off and doing some trading with some folks that do leather work. I hate to leave something like, but on the other hand having it rolled up in a closet is just as big of waste in my mind.

Would you keep a cow moose hide?

If you drew a OIL moose tag, for a cow. Would you spend the time and money to get the hide tanned? And is so what would you ever do with it?

    Bivy and Tarp?

That is a great idea. This past weekend I hit the sack a little too to warm in a bag that was already to warm for conditions and woke up to a ton of condensation inside by bivy.

    Federal land and State animals

Do you think the federal government would be more or less restrictive if they were given the oppertunity to manage hunting on feral land vs say Wyoming or Idaho. It seems like there was just a big to do about limiting lead ammo on federal Wildlife Refuges. I think you really should be careful...

Hunting in Griz Country— handgun or bear spray?

If you have to ask you should use spray. It is more forgiving as far as aiming, it provides a steady stream. You also won't eject the mag in a panic and you won't kill your hunting partner trying to shoot the bear, both of which happen. IF you are realy, truely proficient with your pistol then...
