I have both a Borden Timberline in a light rifle and a Red Rick Precision (Defiance action) in a long range rifle. Both are in 300 RUM and never had a problem with either of them. Accurate rifles and actions. Jim Borden has done great work on several of my rifle and had some great work done by...
I shoot almost every day year round. As winter approaches here I start focusing on my shooting form with indoor blank bale shooting and aiming without shooting drills while holding at full draw. I shoot indoors several times throughout the winter for score and my check arrow flight and...
Please see opening statement from Ashby Foundation Website below. There are Ashby Foundation members and others who have conducted trajectory testing using the same bow with a correct zero at distance to compare actual trajectory drops using a 5 yard plus or minus ranging error. Heavier does...

My opinion, is follow the Dr Ed Ashby Studies on arrow building based on lethality on game animals. You can find the information you seek at https://www.ashbybowhunting.org/ under reports. After 60 plus years of bowhunting I have tried almost every combination of arrow setup (light, moderate...
I carry two Havalon knives. One set up with 60 blade and the other with their gut hook. I use the gut hook to start the main cuts on the gutless method and around the legs. Then switch to the 60 blade for most the other work. When I carried fix blade knives I also carried a field sharpener.
150 grain. I would lean towards heavy with most of the weight in FOC and perfect bare shaft arrow flight. I would lean toward the Magnus single bevel and touch them up for a razor sharp cut. I would rather limit my max range than my arrow lethality.
I would recommend Steve at Alpine Taxidermy. He mounted my last sheep. I was impressed by his work and having it done well before the expected date. Tell him Dennis W sent you
I practice and hunt with the sling on and behind the clip. When hiking I use the sling to carry the bow hands free. The clip I made is a single hole clip for electrical conduit flatted out a little bit to hold the sling in place. Never had any issues during shooting or using in the field. The...
I use the Mathew’s bow sling and attachments. Light weight and works great. I made a small homemade clip that attaches to my bow sight to hold the sling out of the way. It keeps the sling handy and prevents it from swinging when shooting.
Once my bow is in tune I do all my testing with bare shafts. What I look for is what spine and what tip weight flies the best (perfect) at 7 yards. With perfect bare shaft flight to start I can then use less fletching to control arrow flight with broadheads at distance. I would suggest...
Currently my go to is a Waldrop PacSeat. A little expensive, but comfortable and keeps me from moving around too much. Very well built. It is like a pack frame that can sit free standing or lean it against a tree. I mounted a Kuiu bag to mine. Another good option is the home made stool designed...
Primarily just go enjoy the adventure and be smart about your campsite and where you are walking. Watch out when camping around dead trees. They do fall and we have had a couple close encounters. Watch for snakes before stepping over rocks and logs especially if the weather is real warm or...
I would recommend you get closer using a muzzleloader and open sights. 2" at 100 yards is good enough and most likely that will increase your harvest rate, skill as a hunter and decrease your wounding loss rate.
