Take my money haha. I was considering taking an OG to a wire EDM shop, but…by the time I get around to doing that maybe this magical can will be for sale!
Just caught up myself, and I agree with both sides.
First and foremost to anyone out there reading/lurking: no, do not shoot suppressed without ear pro. People do that while hunting; don’t do it at the range. I was curious, knew the risks and did it in a way that was specific to my situation...
Yeah I was debating the width & surface area of the baffles vs number of baffles when I posed the question, but tbh what I really want is a 5” 22LR diameter can on a 300 PRC that gives 125dbA to the shooter’s ear so decided to ask about the skinnier one.
Seems like the one Form showed had to...
I’m curious…what about the OG but just an inch longer for more baffles? 4” OTB & 5” out front? I’d go for that over a larger diameter or less over the barrel.
But, I know nothing about suppressor design.
I agree; but 133 db to shooter’s ear and only adding 4” to the muzzle with a lower tone…I considered that matter settled. Giving up a little in suppression for shorter length & balance. Apologies if I was skipping past the main thrust of the comparisons.
I 100% get comparing it to other cans...
Whoa…I didn’t mean to kick off this age-old debate. To clarify, I never expected the gun to be quiet. I was just hoping it wouldn’t be too disconcerting for my admittedly sensitive ears (tinnitus). Jury is still out on that until season rolls around btw.
It sounds like you’re thinking “hearing...
Apologies, may have gotten confused on the term “sporter”. I have the Lite barrel, which will definitely work. If you mean the actual Tikka Sporter rifle, it’s roughly 0.860” at the muzzle on a 24” barrel so no it wouldn’t work, it would need the OG-L. There’s also another contour slightly...
Meh, I don’t feel lectured. It’s the internet, things get assumed. It was one shot far from the firing line and wide open. This is a place with heavy PRS presence so the ‘firing line’ is a small covered shooting area flanked on both sides by hundred-yard long array of obstacles. Easy to get out...
Got the first 50 rounds through the OG, it’s trued & ready for the season. I’ve been shipped out of town constantly the last two weeks and the guys at the range were doing a training so we didn’t really take the time to compare to other suppressors. One shot without ear pro did lightly ring my...
Just got the rifles identically set up, Tikka with 20” barrel and one with 16” using the OG. Same scopes, stocks, everything.
The one with the OG is right at 5.8oz heavier and you can feel that it’s got some more weight at the muzzle. But honesty…in a good way IMO. So for those saying chopping...
A few pics for anyone interested. 16” with OG compared to a 20”. Last pic adds a 24.3”.
I have two rifles I don’t mess with, all the others get torn apart a lot. I’m setting these up to test weight & balance but for tonight just screwed it all together by hand for the pics.
Any measurements...
I read up on suppressor cleaning, for centerfire I’ll clean when it’s 2-3oz heavier. Not bc I think there’ll be an issue; it’ll just bother me that it weighs more.
I live in the south and have had bouts with rusted guns in the past. All the metallurgy & coating advancements aside…”neglect...
Stronger in case I, er…accidentally use it on a 223. Lighter, cheaper & shorter than other options I was considering. Since they don’t have a huge lead time, I say go for it. They should make whatever suppressor they can dream up. Some will sell a ton, others wont, but with a printer you just do...
New to suppressors, need to be schooled on cleaning them. I have the OG & I’m interested in the Gnat.
They’re titanium, sealed, OTB suppressors. I’ll probably clean the OG every 2k rounds, but everywhere I look the consensus is that 22LR suppressors need to be frequently cleaned. I’m planning...
