Light weight base camp tent...fast setup?

I’ve got the Kodiak 10x14 floorless screen house. Goes up quick, and is very versatile for 4 season use. But it’s bulky and heavy.

    Pigs at night, what optic?

I’ve done a lot of night time hog hunting, and have always said if I could afford a second luxury item aside from my weapon mounted thermal it would be a helmet mounted thermal monocular. The weapon mounted thermal, in my opinion, is #1 priority and trying to switch between handheld and rifle...

    Pigs at night, what optic?

So the OP maxes out his $2k budget for a PVS-14 and then what? It can’t go on the rifle. Helmet, illumination, laser…. You’re talking double the budget for a tool that doesn’t work half as well as a thermal in the OP’s stated conditions.

    Pigs at night, what optic?

Yeah…. Nope. Not correct. Not to mention the OP’s got a $2k budget. A weapon mounted thermal is clearly the answer. Your nods and laser is slick, but irrelevant for this conversation.

    Pigs at night, what optic?

Thermal is the answer, absolutely no debate on its effectiveness as compared to night vision. A 384 unit with a high resolution display should get the job done just fine.

    Smallest Lightest Carabiners

I have line locks sewn into a webbing loop. Right now I am putting them on the tarp loops with a lark’s head. Works just fine, but getting them off and moving them around quickly gets very mildly irritating. Just wish I could clip them on with a tiny carabiner and be done with it.

    Smallest Lightest Carabiners

You’re talking to an Eagle Scout, pilgrim 🤣 I just don’t like messing with it. Like I said, I want to reduce the piddlin’ around. I don’t want to tie knots on the trail. Just clip my line locks to the tarp loops, and move on.

    Smallest Lightest Carabiners

Just looking for something to stretch a tarp with, I could maybe see the cheapest of cheap deforming over time with heavy wind loads? I don’t mind spending a few extra bucks per unit if there’s something out there that actually lasts for a while vs a basically disposable item with gates that...

    Smallest Lightest Carabiners

Does anyone have any recommendations for small, light, but still functional carabiners? I have line locks on loops that I can move around on my tarp as needed, but I’d happily tote around a few extra ounces to lower the piddle factor.

Backpack for heavy rifle carry, field competition, frame/no frame recommendations requested

What about a Kifaru frame and Stryker XL bag? I think the load sling is just about perfect to carry a heavy rifle right up against a rigid frame. Just slide it right in and out of the open top. Water bottle pocket for the tripod and other loose stuff in the bag. I do the exact same thing...

If you want both light and cheap, I would eliminate standing and shooting with a rifle.

    Rifle Case

Pelicans (and similar) are for open truck beds and the goons handling commercial airline baggage. Storing a gun in one at home is a mistake. And they suck to lug around. For anything else, soft cases are superior. I like Grey Ghost Gear & Armageddon Gear for scoped carbines and rifles. I love...

    Sold Swaro 10x42 EL Binos

I’ve got a nice set of pre-2009 Swarovski EL 10x42 binoculars. They’re in great condition, I’ve noted no defects and the viewing experience is excellent. I got these in on a trade and used them for one hunting season. Lived in a Marsupial. Need something to digiscope with. Would be interested...
