Used last season for saddle hunting. In basicly new condition. Decided I didn't need this large of a pack and have swapped to the Platow for this season. $120 TYD.
I have full length zips on pants that I wear in and leave open and I leave my jacket unzipped. My walks are not nearly as long as yours though. I guess it depends on your hanging method. I use a saddle and I think it would be difficult putting layers on once at height.
This probably depends a lot on your bow speed and your effective range. If you hunt think timber like I do with shots no longer than 40 yards and a fast bow, use less pins. If you're hunting where you can take long shots or have a slower bow, more pins.
I had to make this decision recently and went with 308 based on ammo price and availability near me. I wanted the 6.5 for the reduced recoil but it's hard to find sometimes.
I went from a multi pin to the spot hog fast eddie xl with the double stack slider. The slider is good for off season 3d shoots. I have the top pin at 20 yards which puts my bottom pin around 35. Easy to hit anything out to 40 or so without adjustment and nice sight picture still.
Finally got my first bolt action, Tikka T3x lite compact in 308. Realize I don't like the compact stock that much so will probably upgrade when funds are available. Bought a new trigger spring and pistol grip for it. Question is, are the stock spring and grip better for hunting? Did I buy parts...
