    Idaho Sawtooth B tag

Nice, you’ve got a whole year to plan and scout. Get out there and hike around. Good luck next season.

How do you get your elk racks back home in your truck bed? Tips / Pics appreciated.

I'd be more concerned about getting two bulls on the ground. Good luck this season.

In search for a new pack

+1 for Exo. I recently switched from a Mystery Ranch Sawtooth/Beartooth to an Exo K4 5000, one of the best purchases I've ever made. Get as big of bag as you want, it still cinches down tight when you're going light. The sling they offer keeps the rifle locked into the pack but still...

    Idaho mule deer migration

It might not be available as an OnX layer but that doesn’t mean there isn’t data recorded in another format. Not to sound rude but it really is a google search away.

    Motorcycle Hunting

This is a good upgrade to the stock KTM headlight. Worth the price in my opinion, have had too many close calls with Elk and Deer on the bike. https://www.acerbisusa.com/2021-ktm-xcf-w500/p132209-vsl-headlights-sku-2801985226-color-orange-16-black

Guys that drive a long ways to hunt, what are your less common(but important) pieces of gear/tools you're sure to keep in the truck?

winch would be ideal but a kinetic recovery rope can work if you have a buddy ratchet straps and/or rope, gloves, first aid, emergency blanket, and water filter. I also keep a couple gallons of water in the truck.

First elk hunt gear list and questions

Hope you had a good season back in 2016! haha Reminder that the rating typically displayed on most sleeping bags 0F, 15F, 30F, etc. is the lowest temp you can use it and not die, a "Lower Limit Rating". That doesn't mean you're going to be warm or comfortable, a "Comfort Rating"...

    Idaho Mule Deer OTC

I legit saw 3 small bucks over the 12-14 days at that elevation. That was full on 5am-7pm days, not just glassing before breakfast and dinner for an hour or twi lmao. We made the mistake of working over the same area instead of moving to new country. All of us ate tag soup in Nov.

    Idaho Mule Deer OTC

If I were you I'd have a plan A, B, and C, especially coming all the way out from the East. If you get in there and just aren't feeling it or seeing deer, move on. Don't put all your eggs in one basket and burn days. The unit I hunt in Idaho during that time-range at 9k feet was hot last year...
