    I’m quite interested in the Silex in DCF. Also considering Durston X mid. Do you get annoyed by having a short entry point door on the Silex? Have you used the nest ever?

    I agree, I really like mine. I use a leather strop and the green stropping compound and it will be shaving sharp. I’ve done a deer and an elk with it and haven’t had to do anything other than stropping to maintain the edge shaving sharp.

    Interesting, appreciate the input. Did you notice a significant difference in image shake while handholding between the 8x’s and the 10’s? That’s one of the things that makes me interested in trying some 8’s- to see if I can settle the image a bit.

    Beans also dehydrate nicely and easily. I have done canned black beans or pinto beans. I have thrown those in with those simple spanish rice mixes and those are good. Homemade refried beans dehydrate wonderfully. Add a cheese square and some Fritos or corn chips and its excellent.
