Took my parents to riggins & hiked hatchery road. Elk everywhere, warm. The hike follows a river it doesn't gain elevation much. Grab food in McCall & keep driving
Appreciate the thoughts! I think the Maven route will be the most efficient. I'll buy my next binos from them but for now, a nearly free spotting scope will be the move. Talked to them yesterday & they had no issues with this plan.
Wondering if anyone following this thread is in the Boise area. 3 younger guys doing a bear hunt, early May 3-9. 7 Day hunt. Not a single spotter between us, currently. Anyone interested in renting out a higher-end spotter? Open to any messages!
Interesting. Never gotten a chance to shoot off a tripod. Is it safe to say those rigs are partly responsible for the very long shots people are able to accomplish? I see them in videos on repeat
Very interesting, boss. I have hunted for 13 years back in flat land. I have only ever killed deer standing or balanced off some bs shrub or whatnot. Would be nice if I wanna take further shots as the Mule deer I took a couple years ago was only 50 yards out. The 13 oz one would he a good...
To provide context, I have a 30-06 Tikka T3x. not comp shooting. Just a light hunting rifle build. I havent had a bipod but these get good reviews. I only have a sling stud to work with
Curious how many people are using this bipod? Any reviews a couple years down the line. Any better suggestions to those who have tried other offerings from Magpul or others?
Then that works! If you wanted to hunt cheap out west, you certainly could focus cow elk. Hit me up for shore fishing spots in Utah (brown trout) or Idaho (steelhead). I hope to try the east out before we settle, likely back here in Idaho. Every neighbor I have loves guns, animals, and fishing...
GF is a travel nurse now, we started 1.5 years ago. I work fully remote and have for 3 years. I dont recommend the RV, we use furnished finder. Have spent 6 months in Utah & a few in Idaho a month in MT. She has gotten a couple month off to just hang out which she loves.
Hunting & fishing is...
You'll get your ass kicked, really good odds you find your way into a legal citation of some kind, some valuable piece of equipment will break or be lost in the woods, Hunting success rates are low. Shot a 4x4 mule deer and I am more proud of that than any single thing ive done in my entire life.
