    .204 insert and collar systems

Iron Will stuff has the same build quality and tolerances as Ethics. For .166, the only options I would trust are the Valkyrie system, Iron Will Snyder Core, or all steel Ethics. I don't even like titanium for .166 arrows. Impact collars don't need to be very tough. Outserts and outsert...

Iron Will Vane - Personal Feedback

Should I turn it into a podcast, and make it an hour long? I'd rather read.

    .204 insert and collar systems

Valkyrie stuff is for 166. The collars are just not designed to fit a 204 arrow. Some collar sizes can fit, sure, but it'll protrude out more than an Iron Will or Ethics collar. It's not worth the cost unless you happen to have a bunch lying around that you aren't going to use. Their collars...

Iron Will Vane - Personal Feedback

Dorge will also laugh at you for hunting shoulder blades. Poor penetration on bone is your fault for bad aim. Bad shots aren't a thing that happens in the wild, they're the fault of a bad hunter. He doesn't recommend his vanes for solid, fixed broadheads because they suck for solid, fixed...

    90 pound bows

Anyone know safe ways to get an extra five or more pounds out of a new PSE? First and foremost, I get it that newer bows are faster and faster. Speed isn't free. I'd rather have a higher draw weight and smoother draw cycle than a jumpy bow with a five inch brace height. Secondly, PSE sells the...

    Best outsert for x impacts

I've used a few combos of stuff and I do like my X impact arrows. Stock inserts worked and fit perfectly, and handled plenty of abuse, and I ******* hate aluminum components. Drop the FOCOS system like it's hot. Way too fragile. Too many pieces and chances for part failure. Walls are thin and...

    Tuning discrepancy

That's the weird thing about the tune. Bareshaft flies straight and true out to 40, and my broadheads and field points are consistent out to 60. I've gotten 3" difference out to 93 yards with broadheads, but it's often too windy to practice that far. The bareshaft just flies to the right by...

    Erratic arrow flight

Not sure if you've made any progress, but try one thing at a time, and try everything. Never assume you know the cause unless you see a reason for it. I've tried a lot on my setup over time. You probably have a few things compounding. Arrow might be too weak, and too long, which will make it...

    Black Eagle Ximpact durability

Broken a few. I like them, but I don't like the FOCOS system unless you intend to hit wood or cinder blocks. I use standard outserts, but I glue an internal footer, either carbon or a HIT insert.

    Tuning discrepancy

My BS arrows hit way off from my broadheads and field points, but fly smoothly and don't wobble. I don't hunt with a BS, so as long as I'm getting stable flight I don't really care. I'd avoid really close shots if I were you, so that you can get stability before you hit the animal.

Arrow spine question for long draw archer - 33.5 in Draw length

As you up arrow length, it's assumed you are upping draw length to match, since most people don't put 6" in front of the riser at full draw. You can say it's built into most charts. If you cut short, right in front of the rest, you can lean a little weaker if you're in between spines.

    Archery Success Tips

Not really a difference. Hunting arrows tend to be heavier, slightly more durable, but otherwise identical. Target arrows tend to be more slick for removing from targets. Read about a guy using VXTs for hunting. I'm sure they work because that's all I've heard about it.

    Elk Broadheads

What's the speed of your arrows? At 560, unless you're drawing 60# or less, you can use roughly whatever you want. Some broadheads perform differently at different speeds and momentum values. It's baked into the geometry of the design. Slower arrows need a more narrow point, and probably a...

    Outserts and Targets

I've had plenty that gave me trouble, but I switched glue for my outserts (micro diameter, outsert only) and there's a tiny ring of the thicker glue at the base of the outsert left. Haven't had an issue since.

Added Shok TL length change spine dynamics?

Weird anecdote. I have a few 340 spine Easton Bowhunters that are 31" CTC and I have a ~30" draw. They stick out far enough that I can poke the target before I shoot. They are also very weak spined for my 72#. And the good ones shoot lights out. There's probably something about the first...

    7 MM - 08 To 280 AI

Like what Squincher said, you are probably better off buying a more expensive rifle and avoiding the upgrade costs. Cheaper in the long haul. You can't go wrong with either, really, but I would take the 280ai in a heartbeat.
