Looking at the Tetra web site the cheapest pair are $1149. I'm using the ESP analog which retail for $900. That's a decent difference if you dont need custom hearing aid tuning which I think requires the more advanced models. I've had my ESPs for 10+ years and they are one of the best things...
I think that Universal Binding isnt doing anyone any favors.
Get a proper XC boot and XC binding and youll be able to control the ski. That binding just keeps em attached to your feet - doesnt look like it offers much control ...
@USMC22 definitely look at modern boots/bindings and get some advice from a ski store. I was just looking and it seems like there are some newer systems that are good for backcountry like Rottefella Xplore bindings. I havent bought skis in 20 years so my knowledge of bindings is dated - all my...
They would work and give you much more glide than snowshoes! They are wider than the "traditional" XC skis to give you some float in fresh snow and the base has fishscales that help with climbing. I have a pair of the predecessor skis and also have full length skins I can put on them so I can...
I have tried this on with a few different layers and am befuddled by the cut and sizing.
I am 5'10" , 41" chest, 15.5" neck, 33" sleeve and 180lb (actually a few pounds lighter today at 177). Very standard Medium sizing in most things depending on cut/fit/layering.
Wearing a t-shirt and...
I would also add that if buying skis I would absolutely buy them used without hesitation. Buy the boots new and try them on. If you need any help with ski length for your height/weight LMK.
I'm in NE as well (metro west) and I've done a lot of skiing with various setups: XC, tele, mountaineering, downhill. I also have snowshoes.
I think the challenge is that boots need to mount to the skis to give you control over the skis and I dont think you are likely to find a mount for...
Just received the large - very likely needs to go back for an XL! It may be big enough for layers but too tight across the back shoulders to mount and swing a shotgun. It would be large enough to wear as a jacket over a fleece/sweater but probably not large enough as an "over layer" over...
Thank you very much - that is super helpful. I really appreciate you doing this. I think large is definitely the way to go as I will be layering up like you are in the pics.
Do you mind me asking how big it is on you? What do you typically wear under it?
I've seen people our size on this forum return a large for a medium as they thought the large was too big. Maybe it depends on number of layers underneath?
I have been wearing one of these when paddling to my duck blind very early mornings. Really happy with it:

I bought a pair of these ten years ago. Best money spent. I hunt upland & shoot clays. When I shoot my .308 win rifle I put muffs over them.

Hi Everyone,
I'm 5'10" 180lb and interested in the full zip LPP in multicam. I want this for wearing late season in the duck blind. I would like to layer it over a base layer, fleece mid layer, and vest. Would you go with Medium or Large?
I have a 10 year old primaloft belay jacket weighing in...
