I'm pretty partial to Zamberlan at this point, but, I don't wear any of the Alpine boots that are crampon compatable.
First, they are probably one of the best made boots I have ever worn. Some of the features that are attractive to me...
I have more room in the toes than My Han Wag Alaskan...

Here is something to consider,
I have a pair of these from Zamberlan. I'm very impressed with the construction, support and the way the heel locks in place. They make quite a few different models in this line. They...
Yeah, see that doe fills the grab it out well so it can hold it relatively in place, I imagine an Elk quarter would do the same thing. the javelina was a bit strange, it wasn't thick enough to really fill out the grab it so it could hold it in place well, it needed the help of a couple of...
I just came back from a Javi hunt, I have a duplex frame with with just a large belt pocket attached and a Grab it. I carried about a 45b juvie in the grab it, I tied the 4 fee together with para-cord and tied that to the webbing at the top of the pack frame. I set the juvie in the grab it but...

I use the Hydro Bloc that Zamberlan recommends. I like it much better than Obenaufs or anything else I have tried. I would recommend staying with that.
I have both the Hanwag Alaskan and the Zamberlan Sella. The Zamberlan requires more breaking in. Zamberlan gives me more room in the toe area which I like, the heel cup keeps the heel down better and I like the sole better. The heel area of the sole on the Hanwag is narrow and gives an unstable...
I used to break in skates that way. Filled them with very hot water just before practice, laced them up barefoot and practiced with them like that a couple of times, the hot water would mould the skates to your foot. It worked real well. I never tried it with boots, I never found the need to do...
I have a pair of Zamberlan, Sella, with the welt. The boots fit great, the heel cup is the best I have found in terms of non slip. I buy boots with the welt for work and I put them through hell, they hold up very well so I see no downside in terms of the construction. What interested me mostly...
I have smart wool, first lite, Kuiu and minus 33. They all seem pretty good. I tend to like the smart wool stuff the best. However I just came back from 3 days of navigating and ripping my way through forests of cat claw in AZ and wore both Kuiu 185 and 250 as my outer layer. I was amazed at how...
