Apologies for the delay. I went with Etymotic plugs (got them for a price I couldn't pass on). Took them on a hunt a couple weeks ago and they worked great. The hear through feature amplified sounds over natural hearing (not massively, but noticeably). And they worked great for moderating...
Nice, that's great to hear. Does your construction model have microphones for hear-through? If so, do they work well? Regardless, it looks like they're at least worth a try.
If I may, what is the leafy jacket you use? I'm thinking of going this way, and just use a leafy outer layer for clear weather, or camo rain gear for cold/wet conditions.
Thanks! That comports with a lot of what I've seen. It seems like a lot of promise, but the execution seems to really fall flat. From what I've seen the Isotunes Sports are the only real option that's moderately affordable (assuming they work well). Past that, I've heard decent things about...
I have a 20in 300 WSM barrel for a TL3 coming my way. My reasoning was the 300 WSM even out of the shorter barrel will still provide reliable expansion at the ranges I expect to hunt. I'd say decide on which bullet you plan to be using and figure out what the minimum velocity (plus some cushion)...
Thanks! I agree, it seems like a decent option for the price, but only if it works. I like the idea of the Isotunes, because like you I've seen decent reviews of their stuff for woodworking/industry, so I imagine they'll at least be decently durable (which has me holding back on Axils; I've seen...
That's a good point. I know Hornady said recently they're producing orders of magnitude more than in prior years, and still can't keep up with demand. If demand ever abates, I bet we'll see a glut of supply. I guess I'm answering my own question, I'm not holding my breath for demand to back off...
Oh? I thought for the promotions with more bullets it became a decent deal, but it has been several years since I've seen the promotion so I could be misremembering. Thanks!
I'm in the market for a progressive press and have pretty much decided on a Hornady Lock n Load AP. I know they had their "Get loaded" promotion with a few hundred free bullets a few years back before the recent ammo craze. Has anyone heard if there's any plan to bring that back in the near to...
I've used KEH, Fred Miranda, Photography on the Net, and DPreview. The best was probably Fred Miranda; there's a lot of activity on their cassifieds forum, so you'll get a lot of eyeballs. As a general rule, I have to think you'll have the best luck on a dedicated photography forum. I wouldn't...
Looking to get in-ear hearing protection for an upcoming hunt. I've heard good things about Isotunes for woodworking, and see they offer a "sport" model with sound amplification (specifically the "Caliber" in-ears). Anyone have experience using them for hunting? How accurate are they with...
