    That is certainly an option!

    New "to me" rifle

Got the Acraglas on hand, along with some threaded rod. Unfortunately, it's missing a chunk out of the far side that I'll have to do something with that's hopefully not too ugly.

    New "to me" rifle

Still sitting on the shelf; too many other project ahead of it.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Trying to find a 600 yard load for my M1A, put together ladders for 155 and 175 SMK's. Now have to wait for the weather to be decent enough for a range trip!

CCI 250 Primers vs Fed 215 Primers

When we could get primers, I shot nothing but CCI. Never had any issues with quality. These days, I use whatever I can get my hands on but definitely do a minor load workup to check for pressure issues.

    non factory coyote calibers

6mm AR Turbo 40 Improved, or 6mm Fat Rat. Predates the ARC, but it's basically an Ackley ARC. I use mine for 1000 yard competition; 105's at 2800, but I'm sure it'd rock lighter bullets as well. Total custom, you'd have to get a reamer cut.

    Long action build in 6mm??

Short cartridges work just fine in long actions. I spent about a dozen years fooling around with M24 sniper rifles, which were 308 chambered long actions. Never had a problem.

    Long action build in 6mm??

If I was going to build a rifle for "small game" with factory ammo, I'd be deciding between 243 or 6mm Creedmoor.

Reforming .308 brass to .338 FED

Consider getting a tapered size button. Redding makes them, I use one to reform 308 to 358 Winchester. I lube with Imperial, with just a touch inside the neck. After a pass through the sizing die and cleaning, I'd check the OAL and trim if necessary. Should be a painless process, good luck!

    "Old Rifles"

I'm gonna resurrect this thread instead of starting a new one. I prefer old guns. There, I said it! In the stable right now I have: 1948 Remington 722 in 257 Roberts. This is a new acquisition and I'm fixing the broken stock, but have high hopes for it. 1934 Remington model 11 in 16 gauge...

    I need a basic 30-06 load

I second the Garand loads. Should be safe and effective in any rifle.

What do you do for a living?

Geologist for the state DoT. Work takes me to some interesting places. Also did 30 years in the National Guard, retired as an E7. Oh, and I am an FFL for what that's worth.

    Primer Pocket Cleaning

I do uniform and clean primer pockets. Does it make a difference? Probably not, but it makes me feel better, and that's all that matters. I've got a tool that chucks up in a drill; takes a couple of seconds so it's not a hardship.

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Hmm. Finished converting some rust on my new-to-me, 1948 vintage Remington 722 baseplate to blue. Installed some hardware on my new 1903a4gery stock. Annealed some 223 brass. Like Kyle, did not start a fire so - win. Continued the never-ending process of prepping 223 brass (clean primer...

Moving to Missoula, MT… bad idea?

Heh. Grew up in the Bitterroot, Bozeman grad, now live in Helena... Missoula is against my religion. Especially Reserve St. Yeah, they have problems but so does everywhere else. There are far worse places to live, especially for the outdoor oriented type. Pretty much whatever you want to do...

What did you do in the reloading room today?

Finally got to where I could re-mount my presses on the new benchtop. Not yet to the point of actually, y'know, loading anything, but getting there.

What rifle for hunting with irons?

For hunting with irons, I use an old Winchester 94 30-30 with a lyman rear peep sight. I can hit a balloon at 200, but I doubt I'd stretch it much beyond that, and I've never actually taken a deer with it.

How long have you old timers been married?

30 years last August for us.

    New "to me" rifle

Picked up a Remington 722 in 257 Roberts that has a busted stock. Should be a fun little project to bring back to life and perhaps chase some critters with. It'll be here on Thursday. Figure I'll put the stock back together and reinforce it, hopefully there aren't too many missing chunks.

    Montana Mule Deer/Elk advice

Billings, huh? Lots of deer and antelope country in easy travelling range, elk country might be a bit farther but is still reachable. Spend your days off this coming spring and summer getting out of town and exploring. You won't be a resident in time to apply for tags, so hold off on those...
