Spoke to Beretta CS....they can't even pull an individual part number for that (I gave them the one above). They can sell me the whole assembly for like $180. They have no way of contacting Sako directly. That all seems pretty crappy.

I know this is niche, but I don't see any gunsmithing sub forum here. I discovered the rear sight base on my Sako 85 Black Bear has broken off. The single mounting screw sheared. How that happened, I have no idea. Does anyone happen to know its specs so that I can find a suitable replacement...
Lots of good information you've managed to dig up. The magazines are a solid find as well. 10 RDS of 3006 would be pretty great, not as great as 9.3, but still. You going to get one? I'd definitely be interested in a report.

I didn't read all of the posts, so apologize if it's been discussed, but don't most of the diy big eyes have a fixed ipd? That seems like it'd make it difficult for others to look though compared to a normal spotter on a hunt. Perhaps others could just look through one half like a traditional...
Maybe too late, but my Hawkeyes all have Alaska Arms Rings. They work as advertised and hold zero with repeated removals, in my experience.

No, they're still available to order, but never seen one in person. I don't want to be the test case, but I'm definitely still interested. There's a few more chamberings, 308, 30-06, 300win mag, as well as wood stock models.

I went down that road a while ago with a Ruger Hawkeye Alaskan in 338wm. I had an older Griffin Precision Hunter 338 can that I put on it. The whole lot came out to something like 12lbs and made the setup pretty unwieldy, and it was still pretty loud. Maybe a lightweight rifle and a moderns...
Sorry, there's dozens of that model on GB and my local shop can get ahold of them. Wondering if anyone has any experience with them.

I'm starting to see these pop up, and in the best cartridge ever, 9.3x62. Looks like a less expensive BAR, and until now only available internationally, maybe? Tempting, but I've never even heard of this. Anyone know anything...
Can't comment on that specific model, but my 3 Hawkeyes are dead nuts accurate. Actions are a little rough from when new, but break in just fine. I'm considering the FTW in 7prc myself.

Yeah, that what I mean. Those models have been listed for a long time, and I've still never seen a new one around. Used are all over, at various price points, and I have a couple that I bought used. Shame that the line's been all but ended. Same with the Win 1885. The Highwall models have all...
Ruger has had the same 3 or 4 models of No 1 on their website for quite some time, and new ones are never on GB or anywhere else. Are they still making it? If they are, I assume they have a single production run each year, does anyone happen to know when that usually happens?
Thanks

I've never chronod it before, but I agree, that does seem around 150fps slower than I would have expected. As far as 338 federal, I think to get similar velocity you'd have to use lighter bullets, but I'm not sure. Certainly someone else can better answer that.

I never did with the suppressor on, it was just to cumbersome to take seriously. Put the factory brake back on and chrono'd a few rounds today on a Garmin. I don't reload, so I can't tell you what exactly I'm shooting beyond Hendershot loaded 236gr Hammers.

Wow, that is a heck of a discount. It's the previous gen, if that matters. The III is out now. From all accounts, the Steyrs really shoot well.

They're definitely a little more rough than my Sako 85, for example, but I've never had a feed issue. Their CHF barrels shoot.
ETA: 5 rounds of 236 gr Hammers in 338win mag @ 100yds. Hawkeye Alaskan.

I have several Ruger rifles. 3 newer Hawkeye models all shoot lights-out, couldn't be happier. I have a couple older No. 1s that don't group nearly as well, but I don't handload. I wouldn't hesitate to get a Hawkeye. No experience with the Americsn line.
