There are literally less than 100 tundras total that have had that problem. You can go through all the tundra forums on the internet that have 10s of thousands of members and you'll hardly see any mention of it. Because it's a Toyota that is pretty much always reliable, it makes big news...
On one side you have the gas camp. They'll say things like diesel emissions systems are very problematic. You have to drive tons of miles to hit break even due to the very expensive diesel engine option. Oil changes and fuel filters definitely add up for diesels.

Whether it's seeing one from a vehicle on a road or on a trail, where do you think the best spot is? I am not hunting them I just want to see one and get some pictures. I really don't want to end up too close to one for obvious reasons.
Is there a science to spotting them? I have lived in Utah...
Post 2012, which engine, gas or diesel, has the best pulling power and reliability in your experience?
In general, what's the most reliable post 2012 truck? For example, the cummins is good, but it doesn't mean anything if I have to replace the transmission or suspension before 100k miles.
