Awesome thank you I'll search around for that. And yea coming from Miami we have no time to boots-on-the-ground scouting or getting a feel for the area so it's tough. This area is going to be totally new for us and from what I'm reading online it's tough glassing country. So the plan as of now...
Hey everyone - I'm looking for a guide for 1st Season Rifle GMU 71, 72, 73, or 711. It seems like 71 is the most hunted (and harvested) unit on this draw.
It would be 1 hunter and 2 or 3 tag-alongs. Oct 14-18th.
I'm taking my dad and brother-in-law out for their first elk hunt and pulled...
Hey y'all just wanted to provide an update here for fun on my year of hunting. Feel free to share yours too! The goal of the year was to improve my outdoorsman craft every month and hunt once a quarter.
Focusing on hunting & outdoorsmanship as a hobby instead of a "trip" once or twice a year...
Hey y'all just following up on this thread as OP.
I got lucky and pulled a 1st season rifle limited draw tag for GMUs 71, 72. 74, 711. Based on my research, I'm really leaning towards GMU 71 (Dolores County outside of Telluride & Cortez). It seems like high hunting pressure but also highest...
Hey y’all - I’m going Turkey hunting in Ocala National Forest on the Pipeline unit next weekend.
Curious if any of you have hunted it and if there’s any strategies you recommend.
There’s Osceola and Easterns in there and I was planning on using my pot call on edges of fields to draw in an...
Great find! I had no idea about this. As I understand it, you apply standby online the week prior and then if no one else is there you get a tag to hunt that weekend? Have you had success on the standby?
Hey y'all - I'm really trying to increase my days in the hunting field and outdoorsman experience this year. I set a goal to hunt every quarter and do some outdoorsman activity every month. I live in Miami and grew up in the midwest which is still where my family lives.
Here's what my calendar...
Hey everyone - I'm planning to be the "mule" in my hunting group this year for archery elk season in Colorado. I got a tag the past two years in the group so I'm due to be a packer and not a shooter. (Plus I missed on a 45 yard elk last year.. so I guess this is fair punishment!)
I've been...
I'm a midwest hunter as well and went on two self-guided elk hunts the past two years.
Here's some of the biggest tactical takeways from a beginner perspective:
1st year we hiked non-stop all day just hoping to bugle and bump into an elk. This was a bad strategy. We really exhausted ourselves...
Great stuff - thank you @enbhunts ! You have me really second guessing 1st season rifle...
I would guess there's more visibility for glassing too because more trees have dropped their leaves. Just thinking out loud here.
