I’m a quilt guy. Been running a UGQ bandit 10 degree for a long time. This year I’m trying a featherstone moondance 25 in long wide and it’s been pretty outstanding considering it’s 1/4 the price of the UGQ.
Just got back from a mule deer scouting trip with it. Short sample size, still need more time with it but it’s a nice little compact tripod. Fits in the pack easy, easy to deploy. It weighs 1.75lbs with my ulanzi head so it’s light and you will notice it if you’re used to a 3+ lb tripod. I think...
Don’t own either so not much help but I was looking hard at both. Tricer bc looks stout as f@ck but for me and what I would use it for I think it’s too bulky when folded. I like the leg angles of the slik better and it compacts down better, it also has the 2 piece centre post so you can shoot...
Just to update this thread… I sent my tripod back to Rydell so he could see it before we decided which route to go. After 2 weeks in the mail (thanks Canada post) it finally arrived and was confirmed to be a bad unit. I was sent a new one which arrived 5 days later and it’s spot on, solid, has...
I think Ali express is the only place to get it. Takes a few weeks to get here from china but it’s a really solid inner that fits the silvertip perfectly. I have a bear paw designs inners for it as well but prefer the lanshan significantly.
I’ve been talking to Rydell pretty much this whole time trying to come up with solutions. I was able to fit a strip of electrical tape on each cut out of the center post and still slide it into the bushing so that’s how loose the tolerance is in the bushing.. but the plastic bushing has sharp...
That’s me sr80 is talking about. Yes I had the set screw tight. It has an unusable amount of play for me. It’ll shake like crazy in the wind. Rydell was great though, we were texting last night sending pictures and videos and he believes that’s a normal amount of play and the sacrifice you make...
This is a touchy subject and I think both parties are in the wrong. I think Kenneth’s answer is a little distasteful. I understand you’re sticking up for your customer service employees but you put the OP “on blast” just as much as he did you. I’ve had emails about warranty not returned from...
I had a xmid pro 2 on order and cancelled my order due to the #3 YKK zippers and .5 DCF. Just not stout enough for me, I ordered the 1P solid instead. Just food for thought.
I currently have a k4, a duplex tactical and a duplex lite. Exo has it figured out. The fit/finish/feel of the K4 is unrivalled as a hunting frame in my mind. It does everything good and just feels right when I put it on (hard to explain) I’m early in my testing so no conclusions yet but loaded...
Been running quilts exclusively for 7 years now in BC where it gets cold. Doesn’t matter what temp your quilt is rated for if you don’t have a warm pad. I only use the xtherm now after trying a few others. I’m 6’4 200lbs and run a long wide quilt and pad. Works well. I have an EE 50 degree apex...
I’ve had my exo k4 3600 for a week now and just wanted thank you to Steve for all your hard work and dedication to building this system. It’s really shines through in every aspect of this pack frame👍 the bar hasn’t been set, it’s been shattered. Keep up the good work
I just received a tactical frame yesterday. I also own the duplex lite. I find I need to run kifaru frames a little higher on my hips. Get that lumbar pad sitting right in the small of your back and try that. Also you need to shorten your torso length based on that picture as others have said
I have a cimaron lite with stove as well as a silvertip (no stove) and silex (no stove. I'm 6'4" and run a lanshan 1 solid inner in my silvertip and love that setup. I'm selling my silex, it's not for me. I like having multiple tents. I run my silvertip above treeline or when expecting weather...
