Hey William, thanks for the information. I really like your pointer about going with NAC from Kotzebue to Anchorage. I’ll look into that route and then going as checked baggage from anchorage back to Bismarck. I may have some other questions too if you don’t mind later. Do you by chance have any...
Well I appreciate that tidbit, these are the steps of the process I'm trying to digest. As of now if we hunt up to the last day of our planned 6 day hunting trip we don't leave Kotzebue for 2 days after we come out of the field. I am trying to figure out where we can rent or use freezer space in...
Ok I have all the questions. This is a topic we are really stressing about. A group of us are booked to be caribou hunting September 2023. We are trying to get answers on our options for flying meat and antlers back as checked baggage. We are coming from North Dakota and don't have Alaska Air as...
Yes, we are booked but not until September of 2023. Probably early but working on logistics, and have so many questions. As time progresses I'll surely be asking those questions here.
Thank you everybody for the replies as well as the replies in other threads. We are officially booked for Sept 1-9 of 2023, hunting the Western Arctic Herd. Was extremely disappointed with the porcupine herd transporter communication or lack there of but either way I am currently happy with our...
I appreciate this attention to detail. These are the logistical questions I have, whether it be planning a caribou or moose trip these are the overlooked details I'm trying to figure out. Thank you and I'm continuously following.
There will be 3 of us for sure maybe a 4th. We are looking at doing a drop camp supplying our own gear. Not looking to do a float camp. Coming from ND, looking for hard horned, planning for after September 1st. 35 years old with experience elk hunting in the mountains as well as flat landing...
I have been reading every article on rokslide regarding caribou. I have it narrowed down to one transporter that I'd like to go with to hunt the western arctic herd and one transporter to hunt the porcupine herd. If you could do one which would you prefer and why? I'd like to make this as much...
Paying attention to this thread closely as well as all other mentions of Golden Eagle. They are near the top of my short list. I'd really like to hear others opinions on golden eagle as well as doing everything from Kotzebue. Another on my short list is out of Fairbanks hunting Porcupine herd...
If there’s anything I’ve learned about packs, you’re gonna think your first is awesome and you’re never gonna think it’s bad until you try that next level. I learned the same thing about optics. Get whatever you can afford/justify, make sure it fits and go hunt.
I'll throw my vote in. I like my MR Metcalf. Each Manufacture has a little something that another doesn't, I like how Kuiu packs load lifter stays can double as a rifle sling holder, the Metcalf doesn't have that, Exo has 2 extra straps to hold meat bags in place that Metcalf doesn't. Still I...
I know you’re not going to say it publicly and I would direct message you if I had enough posts to do so. But I’m in the beginning stages of planning a caribou trip and have several emails in to transporters from Kotzebue. You say there’s 3 good ones and 2 to stay away from? I would really like...
