Do you guys carry bear spray in Black Bear country?

I do for peace of mind, even though every single black bear I have come across in the backcountry has ran off as soon as they notice me. But, it helps me sleep at night so its worth the weight for me.

San Diego Mule Deer Tactics-Beginner Advice

I am an adult beginner hunter, with a few unsuccessful deer seasons behind me. Just wondering what tactics any successful San Diego area hunters use. Not looking for any tips on where to go, more so how to hunt the chapparal and scrub oak choked hellscape that covers most of our backcountry. I...

    Blisters in-between toes.

This is also something I was thinking. I wear Oboz Bridgers which are great, stiff-ish boots for hiking maintained trails. But I think I need something with a stiffer sole for side hilling off camber & loose stuff in the backcountry.

I use these and they have helped a ton! But I do still get blisters on longer trips.

    Blisters in-between toes.

Any tips to help prevent blisters in-between toes? I don't have any problems with bottom of foot or heel blisters, but I tend to get them between my big toe and 2nd toe, as well as on the littlest toe. I wear toe socks under my wool socks to try to prevent skin to skin rubbing, and change them...

1st deer of my life in CA D6

Congrats! I am a new hunter in CA as well (3 years). While I do enjoy bowhiking and armed walks in the woods, I have yet to successfully harvest a deer. CA is tough hunting, especially in SoCal where I live. Your post gives me hope! Thanks for sharing.

    Upland conditions CA 2021

Went out in San Diego County today. Went to a spot I hunted turkey this spring, and was expecting to see quail/dove. No birds seen, very minimal sign. May just be a bit too dry in the area.

California introduces bill to ban Bear Hunting

Make sure to let your representative know you are against this bill. Death by a thousand cuts man. We may lose hunting of any kind in CA within a generation or so.

    I got to quit smoking

I smoked from age 16-23 (not that long, but still). Quitting was hard, but I am so grateful I did. I am 32 now and so happy to be smoke free. You got this!

Jump rope for cardio, conditioning, and full body strength to be a better hunter

Awesome post, thanks for sharing! With gyms closed I also had lost some fitness. Now my fiancée and I hold each other accountable to home workouts (burpees, squats/lunges, and kettlebells mostly) three times per week and running on off days. Gonna have to look into getting some jump rope into...

    SoCal New To Hunting

Yea I go to Los Padres and Sequioa NF mostly. But there's decent upland hunting in the high desert off the 15 too. Anywhere from 2 to 6 hour drive usually though.
