For those wanting a wood one, UM is coming out with a wood rokstok. Nothing said about inlets available but I'd assume they still aren't planning anything for the R8.
Hopefully, we can generate enough interest here or other boards that UM can justify making a mold. I know Bjorn reached out...
I have the MSR groundhogs and they've been fine as any other stake I've used.
My buddy showed me this Andrew Skurka tip years ago and it's been excellent. It focuses more on using what you've got than who makes the best stake. It's the hunter, not the gun kind of thing...
I've got the Flex 30. In ~55 degree weather it's been too warm. Yea, you can stick an arm and leg out, but I've found that the covered body parts get sweaty and the ones uncovered get chilled. YMMV with cooler temps and a cooler rated bag.
That's super cool and a simple DIY. Any specific USB cables work best?
I might try cutting the cable all the way down to the USB-A connection. A little less flexible but might be in a good way.
Another way to think is that you're going to need to take in that water in regardless. Water helps food digestion and nutrient absorption. I'm not sure if you're planning on eating only meal replacement bars, but that can lead to problems as well, such as constipation. If you're going to go...

That's some excellent info. Really appreciate it. Just estimating with the 26oz Tikka Rokstok, an R8 with a 26", 30 cal, standard weight barrel would weigh around 7lbs 4oz bare. In my search, most people were saying they were on the heavy side, but that is right in the sweet spot...
I'm a little late to the party, but yes, quad sticks are awesome. My buddy discovered them on his travels to Europe and sold me on them. Something with independent front and rear support will be more stable (like two sets of trekking poles) but the quad sticks are definitely game changers...

Number one thing hanging me up is the barrels. I'm used to shooting the 215 Berger Hybrids out of my 300WM and plan to use those in my future 300NM. The twist rates on the OEM barrels are antiquated for many of the modern bullets (yes they work, but bullet design has come a long...
I'm looking into the Blaser as my next buy. Still a lot a questions before I put up that much money but if I pull the trigger, I'll definitely put it in a Rokstok.
