Yeah, I can only imagine how that is going to impact the communities that thrive off that business. I mean at least there’s always huge rainbows compared to anywhere else. The pike fishing is kinda my focus now with all that’s gone down. Maybe later I’ll get to do the king salmon once they get...
These guys have been super helpful. I'm not sure about the reds but it sounds like it's just snagging them. Not much sport in that but I also know nothing so I may be wrong haha. I'd love to know what you come up with, I'm trying to figure this out too.
Well hopefully the DNR decisions/practices can rectify the current decline however they have to. Almost has me rethinking my trip decision at this point. I'll look into the places you mentioned though, and keep doing some research. Thanks Walter.
Honestly, I just want to catch big fish. I'm mainly a catch-and-release guy myself. I'll take what I can keep but maybe take less because I want the fishery to grow. But that's my perspective. I may look into the silvers more since the King Salmon runs are hurting. Thanks.
Yeah, I saw some people posting it on Facebook last night. Is the decline due to commercial fishing? What's the explanation for the Salmon runs declining?
Ok, I've been looking around at Nushagak at different lodges. Do you guys have any experience or knowledge of any of these outfitters that you recommend? My dad and I are not fly fishermen, grew up bass fishing so most experienced with conventional. I'm most likely going to do like 4-5 day trip...
Awesome, thank you. I would've had no idea based on how all the lodges make the fishing look incredible. Looks like everyone is saying the same thing which helps me narrow down the options. Thank you Walter.
And here I was looking at lodges on Kenai. Thanks for the recommendations and info about the current king salmon runs. I'll look at the places recommended. Hopefully, I can put something together soon. I might reach out to you guys again through PM if you don't mind. Really want to get it right...
Looking to book a trip for me and my pops for 2024. Guided trip with lodging preferred. Target species would be king salmon. I'd like to do mainly river fishing and then one day halibut. Been scouring the web and there's a lot of options. Was hoping to get some local knowledge. Just looking to...
Def want to jump on some Canada muley and whitetail hunts. Def let me know how the hunt goes. Finding a good outfitter seems pretty challenging so far. Luckily I have some great choices for the Midwest states so far.
I was looking at using one for the OTC archery draw. I understand the time needed to scout areas and that's something I don't have the time for and am willing to pay for.
I know most people are DIYers and I wish I had the time for that but I'm a workaholic for LA county fire. I understand a couple of states give outfitters a select percentage of tags. How would you base your strategy on the information provided? I'd like to have a mixture of archery and rifle...
