40 Mile Caribou opener delayed Steese area.

Now ADF&G has decided that zones 1 and 4 will open on the 11th as originally scheduled. Reference Emergency Order R3-8-24.

    Packraft for waterfowling?

You intend to shoot from the boat? Packrafts spin really easy which can be an advantage in some circumstances but I think it would be a disadvantage for waterfowling. I find it difficult to shoot pictures from mine.

Camper Shell - Windoors or no?

I had an ARE shell with a windoor on the driver's side and a screened slider on the passenger side. After 10ish years the fiberglass strip below the windoor separated from the aluminum base that sits atop the bed rail. I used the damn thing constantly though. Very convenient for fishing poles...

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

Yeah, I'm kinda surprised at the lack of similar options. Seems like there would be enough demand that someone would fill the niche. Maybe you and I are just freaks.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

Looks possibly from the same outfit but I'm skeptical. Maybe I'll shoot them an email and see if they'll ping back.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

Yeah this thing checks a lot of boxes. I have a cheap roll top type that will hold air for a few hours. This new one hasn't leaked a bit and protects a lot better. Air it up tight and the rifle won't shift within the case at all. Wish it was less bulky but there's gotta be some cons with the pros.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

That looks good but definitely not for backpacking. Way too heavy.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

Yes, bought it from LFS Marine at the GASS show a couple of weeks ago. I was there right before the show closed and it was the last (or maybe only) one. Original price was $289 but it had been marked down to $165. After softening up the sales guy he offered it for $125 and I grabbed it.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

Yeah it was supposedly $289 originally but I was at the show in the last couple of hours before closing and they had it marked down to $165. After some bullshitting with the sales guy he offered it for $125 so I grabbed it. LFS Marine was the seller.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

Yeah I looked at the offerings from Sagebrush and Nomar. Sagebrush stuff was more appealing to me but also more expensive. This inflatable one has some unique advantages over both. Being able to roll it up to stow in backpack is huge.

Anyone recognize this inflatable rifle case?

I bought this at the Alaska Sportsman's Show and assumed that I'd be able to find another elsewhere. Neither Google nor Duck Duck Go will conjure so much as a hint. Starting to think it's a glitch in the Matrix. Maybe it slipped through from another dimension? If anyone knows anything please...

    Blacktail on Montague

I've hunted it. The ground and vegetation will almost certainly be wet but there's a reasonably good chance for sunny skies. I've spent a lot of time out there in October wearing rubber boots, rain pants and a T shirt. Move slow, keep your eyes peeled and be ready for quick shots. I've killed a...

Savages are heavy and they can't shoot...

I recently bought a 110 Storm (formerly 116 Weather Warrior) in 7mm RM and it's the most consistently accurate gun I've ever owned. It just groups well with whatever I feed it and never throws flyers. The new Accufit stock feels cheap but the ergos are very nice. I'm not a fan of the magazine or...

    Beating the blisters

I condition most of my body in ways that help with hunting but my feet remain baby soft. For most hunts I wrap them with athletic tape as if I was playing a sport with weak ankles which provides a lot of support and prevents blisters at the same time. It's a lot of work but it makes sidehilling...

Ammunition for Winchester EW 7mm mag

For factory ammo I'd suggest Federal with either 160 grain Nosler Partition or Accubond. Terminal performance is good at different velocities and critter sizes plus both shoot well in my Rem 700 and Savage 116. I wouldn't hesitate to try the Federal Fusions if your rifle likes them. My...

    Walmart Rifles

The one time that I bought a gun from Walmart it was because a local gun shop took my money for a deposit and never placed an order with the distributor. I later learned that Walmart ordered from the same distributor as the LGS. The purchasing process was a PITA but it saved me $300.

    Pet Peeves

The campfire garbage thing is a real problem in Alaska too. I also see places where people just add new fire pits when there are already junky ones in the vicinity.

I've killed a truckload of caribou and a boatload of blacktail deer with 115 grain partitions. I say go for it if you like the gun.

    Boxer briefs under merino bottoms???

I wear merino boxer briefs under merino long underwear. Synthetics would be fine as well. Going commando would be better than cotton.
