In western Washington if you don’t hunt in the rain you don’t get to hunt. We just accept being wet. There isn’t gear made that will keep you dry while constantly hiking, wet by sweat or rain.
This past Saturday we expected the weekend warriors to show up for archery elk and clog the gates...
I believe this is true. If a solo hiker is killed, dragged off, and half buried, there is nobody to report it. And with the hundreds of missing hikers every year……
I carry bear hunting because tracking a potentially wounded bear through our thick rainforest underbrush, I’d rather have my G20...
IBO speed is a large part marketing. You have lost about 25fps right off the bat just due to draw length. I have a 27.5” draw at 65lbs, and a 430g arrow going 275fps. 125g viper tricks. I have gotten a full lengthwise passthrough on a 200lb black bear, in the throat, out the ham. And the...
I had one of the load bearing strap attachment points deteriorate on my 5500 ultra bag and they replaced it with the new version bag no q’s asked. Besides that, the pack has been great since 2017 and packed many elk, deer, and bears. Very happy with my experience.
Berger VLD hunters. Weve shot close to 20 bears with em out of 30/06, 270, 6.5, 300wsm and the majority of them didnt go 10yds. The farthest track job was around 50yds. Most of the shots were 15-250 yards. Dont need to worry about a blood trail if they drop on the spot.
The main straps that keep it from shifting left/right once the load is secured are the lowest side straps on the bag that attach to the waist belt right at the side of the hip. Loosen these completely, get the pack on and the waist belt tight, then tighten those lower side straps. This should help.
I use both. Truth is, here you’re getting wet no matter what you wear, might as well delay it for a title while. If you wait it out in western Washington you may not hunt for a week or more. 😆
I wouldnt overthink it. Just strap it fully inflated (if using inflatable) to the back of the pack. I put on quite a bit of miles and elevation this year and never knew it was there until I set up. This is it deflated while packing out my double this year.
I laugh every time I see someone say we’re able to shoot game at 100yds with modern bows. From what I’ve seen at 3D shoots most people shouldnt even be shooting game at 50yds. Bows actually haven’t changed all that much the last 15 years.
I’ve had mine through 3 seasons and many hundereds of miles while hunting the rainforests of Washington and a LOT of rain. No leaks yet and they are wearing pretty well. I’m very impressed. The only negative I have is the toe box is pretty narrow and I should have gotten a half size bigger.
