Hey guys I currently shoot the hoyt carbon spyder at 70lbs. I have the black gold 5 pin slider set at 30-70 yds. My pins are pretty crowded. Im thinking maybe a 3 pin slider would be the answer set at 30-40-5-. Any thoughts or experiences on this topic would be great.
Has any solo elk hunters have any success with these decoys. I hunt alone and was wondering how to use them that doesn’t end in a full frontal shot? Any tips appreciated
Hey bud I hunt the front range in Mt and we see grizzlies often. I’ve never had a close encounter until I had an elk on the ground. A frontal shot, the elk only went 50 yards but was bleeding like a fountain. I was able to watch the elk lay down and bleed out. By the time he laid his head...
Weather in NW Mt that time of year is pretty mild and dry. I would start looking at the large chunks of public land in the western part of the state. Do your research, find a trail head and hike in.
I would wait until around the 15th of Sept. Bulls will be bugling more consistently. I hunt in NW Mt and the weather that time of year can be in the 80’s and lows in the 40’s. 0 degree sleeping bag would be plenty warm enough.
Reigion 1. Heron Mt. Tons of public land. hike any trail or gated road a couple miles and you will locate bugling elk. Lots of timber, need to be able to navigate in, but you will hear elk.
yes I totally agree, I could have worded the question better. Im definitely looking for knowledge on a topic and have offered all I can offer on Mt and Alberta.
Hey Laramie,
Been reading gear reviews mostly. Is there something wrong with asking for direction on decipering Colorado’s very confusing big game draws? I do the same on f150 forums to figure out my truck!
Retired pro hockey player. Retired but I can still go. I don’t mind paying for a ranch hunt, but am up for anything. Backpack, RV. Last season in Mt I paid 4k for a guided archery elk hunt on a ranch in the Lil Snowies and it was spectaular. That’s as much as Id spend.
Hello Rokslide, first time poster, I know, but have been reading the forum info for years!! I have 4 Colorado preference points and would like to try pull archery tag this year. I’d be interested in a diy, ranch or guided hunt. I’m not looking for your spot, just some direction on where to...
