    Night vision.

    There are lots of PVS-27s and PVS-30s out there in the $4-4.5k range. Not cheap, but it’s a clip on NV weapon sight which will work with your day optic up to 10x mag magnification, maybe a bit more. The PVS-30 is what is currently issued in the Army’s M-110 sniper rifle.

    Carrying Pistol in Backcountry

    Glock 19 in my HPG kit bag every time I go out. It’s extra weight and I’m not likely to need it, but I can’t seem to let myself go without it.

    Gun safes

    I’ve got a 36 gun safe from Ft Knox. Weighs 1350 lbs empty and sucks to move. I wish I had gone bigger though because I can barely squeeze 20 long guns in there! Mine has the dual keypad and dial which I do like and would recommend.

    What's your strategy...for retirement?

    I’m active duty .mil, retirement eligible in 8 years (50% of my base pay) On top of that, I’m maxing out my thrift savings plan and have an IRA thru Vanguard for both me and my wife which is maxed out every year. I started much later than I should have and now I’m trying to make up for the time...
