He was a big old bruiser. He was with a group of 10 mature bucks, my dad took a 32” 4x4 out of the same group. I hope I can draw that tag again someday.
Both the big SCI shows are worth the price of admission just to see the unbelievable taxidermy and displays. There’s occasionally a bargain or two to be had as well. These days what can be considered a bargain is open for interpretation though.
You might give the Dallas SCI show a shot too. I’ve booked a couple hunts at both shows, but I prefer the Dallas show. I bought my dad a whitetail hunt that he really had a great time on, it was nice for me to be able to get a feel for the outfiter in person. I also was able to talk to a...
Threads like this make me think I might be going overboard. My walking sticks have Wiser quick stix adapters on them, my tripod has a Tricer DZ head so I can shoot off it, and I’ve got an Atlas bt20 always mounted on my full length arca rail. I definitely have a problem.
I’m an old school F2 guy. I just don’t like F1 scopes on hunting rifles. And I’m too old to change. I have a couple F2 2.5-20 NX 8’s in MIL, and I love them. Perfect hunting scope for me. I have a F2 4-32 MIL as well, and I just prefer the 2.5-20, especially for hunting. The 4-32 reticle is...
You might give the Tricer DZ a look. I was running an Anvil 30 on my RRS TCFX and topping it with a PT scout. I decided to give the DZ a shot and I really like it. It seems to be the best of both worlds and it’s crazy smooth. Time will tell, I’m super good at breaking stuff.
I’ve had great luck with the 300 PRC and short barrels. I run a 22” proof sendero. My load of H1000, ADG Brass, Federal 215M pushes a 215 Berger at 2930 FPS with exceptional accuracy. A 24” barrel might get me to 3k FPS, that’s not enough difference for me to matter. The shorter rifle handles...
Getting in this a little late, but I wanted to add that my workplace runs a dozen F-150’s in our fleet, all newer than 2018, 4 wheel drive 3.5 ecoboost. We buy them 100% based on reliability and maintenance costs. Our team only issue has been a couple broken frames from years of plowing snow...
I run an Atlas bipod with a RRS ARC clamp, I won’t leave home without it. I also use my tripod in situations I absolutely can’t use my bipod. The speed and stability of a bipod just can’t be beat.
I wanted to love Leupold so much I let 3 of them fail on me. After the second one it’s my fault.
VX3 erector tube failed
VX6 (first gen) CDS turret broke
MK5HD, the infamous loss of zero (twice, so my fault)
