No, that's a pretty good analysis. It's better to gear up properly or suffer during a hike instead. I double the Darn Tough, especially the DT Vermont which I and my wife wear. Not only we find these as the best sock for cold weather. Also what about socks made of merino wool? Like Meriwool...
