Only bull I have shot. Low 330’s. Put in for close to a decade to draw the tag in NM. not one of the glory units, but had some damn fine elk in it. 300”+ of bone is damn impressive on the ground.
Congrats! That’s a hunting feat many dream of but few accomplish. Some beautiful rams you have killed, and it sounds like a lifetime of memories between your personal hunts and all those you have guided.
They do not have any insoles. I contemplated buying a pair to furnish with the boots, but figured most would want to choose their insole, so I discounted the price to address it.
Honestly as I am getting older and continue to train with heavy packs, my feet are flattening out. I used to wear an 11 or 11.5 in everything, but now I am needing a 12. The 11.5 still feels good without weight on my shoulders, but once I put a load on and start going downhill, my toes hit the...
boots are about 50 miles on them. Trained for a bit in them and realized they were too small, and purchased a pair of 12’s off the site that fit better. These need a good new home. They do not come with insoles. Asking $175 for them.
Pair of zamberlan 2092 in size 11 like the title states. I’m good condition with about 50 miles on them between an elk hunt and some training. Lots of life left in these boots. After a season I realized then are just a bit too small for me, so I need to send them on to a better home. Asking $125...
NM is the one state where your odds are equal to everyone else, year after year. they may be low, but they are equal, and for that reason I will always apply there.
Not at all; no offense taken. These convo's are all good fun and its eye opening to get everyone's insight, especially knowing everyone is at different stages of life!
Schmalzy,
I made an assumption he was younger when he discussed the timeline of now versus later. If you are in mile 20, you dont preface the question the way he did IMO.
What is your opportunity cost on this if you instead chose to invest those funds over 10 years with compound interest? I’m pretty positive in 10 years you could pay for a sheep hunt every three years with the dividends and earnings on those funds alone, and then bankroll future hunts as well...
I had to drop my whole pack, haven’t found a way around it. That said, I haven’t been in a position that I need to remove it often and then put it back on, so it doesn’t feel like a nuisance in the slightest.
Awesome story, thanks for taking us along. Its really impressive to see someone take a OIAL tag, go after it unguided and end up successful. You should be extremely proud of that ram and what you accomplished!
its funny, as i mentioned my little Niak survived some serious stuff this sheep trip (heavy snow loads, extreme winds). My guide has also worked as a bear guide on the peninsula for the past 8 years or so, and he mentioned our sheep hunt weather was akin to a peninsula bear trip. i felt pretty...
