MT hunting with my kids was pretty great this year. Spent a total of over 20 days scouting/hunting the 2 different units we hunted, starting before the application deadline. My daughter edged out my son on the best buck, leaving me in last place. But I also got a doe during archery where my...
Might take a shift on user's perspective and obvious use of it to understand etc. But it's funny nobody has mentioned this one. It's killer, even for up close timber hunting, the glass, reticle, lightweight, turret, etc. I shot an elk walking in the timber at 50 yards, a whitetail chasing a...
I'd say just about 1/3 (maybe a little fewer) of the ones I've taken in rifle season were following a track. That's fun hunting. Hard to tell what's at the end but always fun to follow them and try to find out.
It's about "seeing big bucks easier"? Weird. I'm not sure what that means.
Do you mean it's about "making it a possibility that a big buck, or an older buck is alive, or exists"? Because that makes more sense.
There's never an "easier" time to see the biggest available bucks, than during...
Never said "solving" the Bridger problem is not rocket science. There is Zero chance of solving that - it's 100% too much pressure. The hunting was in a vortex of that probably starting in the 90s.. Just my opinion and from talking with older locals. My best friend drew it this year, and he...
Live in Bozeman. Hunted in Bridgers in the 80s and 90s and have numerous friends that have drawn recently and including this year. Used to regularly drive walker and baseline and glass after the season and look at the deer after heavy snowstorms. Somewhat familiar with what was and is, there...
I'm voting myself into more opportunity.
Trying to get out of "exerting a bit more energy" is an odd thing to suggest that folks are trying for who want to see an end to general, statewide hunting the entire month of November for mule deer..
Have seen hunting in MT spiral down the toilet bowl...
Bridgers is a perfect example of a place being completely beat down by MT hunting management. Tiny mountain range with easy to find and hunt deer. A decade before the permit was established, the quality was better and the hunting pressure lower than now. There are probably more elk hunters...
A list of the "many" non-residents. Please point out which of those you're sure doesn't have MT best interests in mind.
The group that is coordinating the meetings and input is: https://montanaconservationsocietymt.org/
It's not surprising the the MBA crowd will froth at the mouth when you whisper shortening any archery hunting days. And the quickest way to infuriate a MT hillbilly is to tell them they shouldn't be shooting a roadside forked horn mule deer with it's nose in a does hind end.
I’ve hunted region 3 for almost 40 years have only taken 1 mule deer. I’m not scratching my head as to why. Decades of hunting through November has a cost.
Sorry I’ve got no sympathy for the clowns that preach it’s their God given heritage to stack up forkhorn horn rutting mule deer. Montana deserves better. The plan is a good one.
Montana is WAY overdue to 1) split deer and elk seasons separately like EVERY OTHER STATE 2) stop November mule deer hunting, and 3) establish better limits on Non resident hunters for deer/elk.
