I use a Kifaru Duplex Lite with the Hoodlum. My brother has borrowed it a couple of times and works well for him as well. Most of my buddies run Stone Glacier and love them. As others have stated, best if you can try some out and figure out what fits you best.
Aron talking about the testing that was done seems promising for durability. I don't expect to use it as a pull up bar when in the field. I don't think I'll rush to buy on 2/15 but will eventually get one.
Kifaru is responding to people on Facebook saying all old bags will fit the ARK Frame. Also claiming the ARK is 20% lighter and stronger. Based on the listed weight(3.09#) for a 25" ARK compared to a 26" Lite Frame, the weight savings(7oz) sounds accurate. Strength is obviously TBD but I'm eager...
I'm inheriting a rifle from my Uncle and I have my choice of many of the calibers mentioned in this thread. If you were in my shoes, what gun would you pick for sheep? My gut is telling me .280 Rem., but the rest of the options are below. I'm not positive on the exact load for each gun, but my...
A Colorado statewide bighorn tag could buy a guy plenty of shelters to try. Or even a handful of Alaskan sheep tags and I let the guide provide the shelter. :)
I'm now down the rabbit hole of floorless shelters with a bivy. I was confident I had this figured out when I created the thread...
Good to know. My FIL has a MS and likes it but he only has a handful of nights in it. I was leaning towards MS but might do the Niak and not worry about it.
I'm trying to be conscious of weight, and the above two mentioned seemed reasonable on weight with adequate protection. If truly looking...
Thank you, @B_Reynolds_AK . Footprint with the MS just because of difference in fabrics? I see they both are bathtub style floors and both have an optional footprint. I'm glad you brought that up as it was one of the other questions I had from my research.
Hello all, since this question is somewhat specific, I didn't want to hijack someone else's shelter thread.
I'm looking to purchase my first backcountry shelter and I believe I have it narrowed down to two. The shelter will primarily be used for 7-14 days in early season. Lots of archery elk...
Salewa Vultur Evo GTX Size 12 boots for sale.
Used on 1 Colorado archery elk hunt last year. Less than 50 miles on them. Only blemish is where you can see the strings left marks on the tongue from being tightened. My feet prefer leather is only reason I'm selling. They worked great on the hunt...
Selling a lightly used Vortex Viper HD 15-45x65 spotting scope as well as my Vortex ProGT Tripod and vehicle window mount. Also have the neoprene sleeve, lenses covers, and tripod bag. Good condition, no scratches or issues.
Mainly used to watch deer off the deck(similar to pictures). It was...
Welcome from Madison. Considering the timing, I would focus on Colorado or Idaho for this fall, regardless of weapon choice. You just missed the Colorado primary draw but there is still plenty of OTC and secondary draw opportunities. Idaho still has 2,900 NR elk tags left available. Good luck if...
Agree with the comments about the best hunting is your home state. Every year I spend time in both Wisconsin and Iowa. Both are great states; but I tell my buddies from out west every year they are wasting their time waiting 5 years for an Iowa archery tag when I can get them on as big of bucks...
I had the tag in my cart for one reason or another 3 times over the last week. Indecision led to me not getting it for one reason or another. Always told myself I'd get it tomorrow. Now need to hit the restart button on the countless hours of research and e-scouting. When I got the message today...
Interested in following this as well. I'll be making a purchase soon and currently focused on Kifaru but not opposed to other brands with Exo and SG being the other two I'd consider at this time. I'm most interested in hearing how they perform under heavy pack out weights over moderate distance...
Very appreciative about finding this post. Doing my first September backpack hunt this year and from what I see above and from reviews on other sites it sounds like the Cat's Meow will be a great sleeping bag, at least to get started.
I do have a question however, most reviews have been...
Currently still banking on my initial western hunt plans but have Plan B, C, and D in the works if things don't improve here shortly. Put in for a few low draw probability hunts hoping that the current global pandemic helps improve those odds for this year but everyone else is probably thinking...
I don't think any state is offering anything on fall hunts yet. A couple have offered refunds/return of points for spring bear, fishing licenses, etc. so I imagine fall hunts would be similar if Covid-19 is still a problem.
At this point, I'm just hoping a state will allow nonresidents in or I need to hope to hit the lottery in Wisconsin on one of our 5 tags for residents.
Before Covid-19 the plan was for Oregon-- Archery.
