I had the same dilemma. After about a month, I purchased the SpotX. I like the spotx but I think the inreach (full size) has better sending and receiving capabilities. I heard the mini is no better then the spotx as far as sending/receiving. I used all of last season. My decision for the spotx...
I would also add that having a close by well supply of kindling is also helpful. Doesn’t matter if your starting a camp fire or a box/cylinder stove. You will need to build up your fire after it is started until you can place good size branches/logs to burn.

I also use the instinct. Cool thing about it is the instinct sends all saved way points, routes, etc to their “Garmin Explore App”. This information is also synced to your phone (if you download the free app), online, or if you have an Garmin handheld GPS. The information also works visa-versa...
