A good attitude
Get comfortable hiding in front of cover or if behind cover get far enough back you can move and shoot. Had clients miss opportunities because they were behind a bush or tree and tucked up tight to it.
100%...I carry the powder stuff AND milkweed or goose down. On a 5 day pack...
Punch myself 2Xs...messed with my release tension 1X and the other got lazy with my finger and punched one off mid draw.
As far as the bow goes. Only thing close was running to cut off a Pronghorn. Once boot lace came untied (off the hooks)....caught the hooks on my other boot and ass over tea...
Not elk per say but drew the BigGame combo in MT...wife's due date is Nov 26th. Guess that rut MD hunt is not happening. Ill head out if everything is moving along correctly 2weeks before that I guess.
Start cutting the tags off your clothes, handle off the toothbrush, and extra length of straps off your pack. Probably can find 7oz somewhere else. And if not...it is 7oz. Do an extra squat a day.
Besides the just physical old man strength...I believe part of that is mental strength and attitude. At least the older guys I grew up around (grandpa, dad, uncles, and their friends). Just generally have a different attitude towards hard work or being comfortable. I'm 38 dad is 70 grandpa is 94...
I'd sell it because I just have no use for a pump rifle. If I was stalking or tracking deer where max shot is 100ish yards I'm just shooting a 20guage slug gun.
Also, looking at some of the "current bid" prices if I could get around $1000 for it...it would be gone in a second (unless it had...
For short term kneel down...for long term get your back figured out. I have had the same issues... stand up and almost lose my breath and walk like I gotta take a dump for a few feet before I can straighten up. Chiro with strength and stretching. Don't wait until you have to do a whole elk by...
Usually the main problem with any of the breaks units is with archery being able to get close enough in some of the open country and/or the elk hunkering into the willows. I have a buddy and his dad that hunt it every 3-4 years as non-residents with a bow.
Your boat idea is the same idea as A...
Not much shot is made using towers like Remington...most on a machine the size of a UPS truck. There is still A LOT that goes into shotshell manufacturing on a large scale with many different offerings compared to the guy that loads the same hull/wad/powder/primer/and shot that he has for 30...
Tarp shelter to get out of wind or weather in general if wanting to take a nap or it starts to snow or rain. It is nice to find a cut or ledge set up the tarp and tuck in for a couple hours.
An inexpensive spotter and tripod wouldn't be a bad idea so not only can they help glass further but...
It doesn't mean that many tags were reissued...they just went through that many guys before the tag was bought. Could have been 50 tags total but if guys keep declining it. It goes to the next in line.
IMO You should get 48hrs to decide. No one needs more than that.
unless it is really cold I use these pants on probably 80% of my hunts. I have multiple pairs and wear them when traveling all the time. By far the most comfortable pant I've ever put on. My original pair is around 8yrs old and besides being a little faded all seems and zippers are perfect. Just...
I don't remember if I was on the deer or elk alternate list last year...but I was in the 500s last year and got the email the last week of season to buy the tag. so I'd say if you are 400 and under you have a darn good chance to get picked. 2 years before that I was just over #100 and had my tag...
I saw it and just kind of shook my head...Don't care if you smoke or don't. Grew up around people that did, who didn't. My older sister and her friends got into worse stuff than weed. Didn't care for her during that time or being around her or her friends.
I just laugh at the whole 4/20 stoner...
Crap...forgot about the dozen Needle Pigs my dogs have gotten into. A bunch of barbed wire cuts or old fence posts....Couple hit by cars. Lots of tongue cuts from cattails and a couple stick jabs inside the throat. Pretty routine hunting injuries. Nothing a couple stitches, staples or duck tape...
I don't care what other people shoot...although I may chuckle a little at the guys in Northern MN shooting 338 wins or 300RUMs when everything they shoot is 50yds...because "brush gun" ya know.
When it bothers me is when they have a new hunter or kid shooting those calibers because they don't...
I honestly don't get why guys are so bent out of shape of having to wear it? The getting shot thing is far fetched however...easy to spot areas I don't want to go into because other guys are sitting there. Or the fact it deters most guys from walking right up on my location because they can see me.
