Mystery Ranch makes great packs...I can't speak to the Kuiu as I've never had one. I have a MR Pop-Up 28 that works great for the application you describe.
Based on my personal experience, I'd say buy what you want now. Any of these packs should last for years. I have progressed from...
I personally use both...but it is not necessary by any means. Your OP was a question about using the OnX maps. I prefer to use that on my phone, and my current phone works well, and can last a couple days if I am careful with the battery life. I carry the GPS because I can change the batteries...
Depends on what you mean by "cost"...I haven't bought a lot directly, but the information that has been provided has "forced" me to spend a bunch of cash...
I just ordered an upper for the gunbearer. I noticed that they had a part right in their "Terms and Conditions" that have to be agreed to, that any changes after about 24 hours (when they process the order) would have a separate shipping charge (full charge)...EVEN IF THEY SHIP IT IN THE SAME...
Well, I went into the showroom today and plunked down my money.
Decided on the Sky 5900 on a Krux frame. Added a few pockets, a dry bag and a gun bearer. Should be mostly ready to run for the year!
BTW, the guys in the showroom are great. If you are ever in the Bozeman area, stop in and...
The region 7 tag covers a lot of territory. Last year we hunted further north, and weren’t seein anything on huntable land. The year before they were everywhere. Moved further south, and got into them. Spoke to a deputy sheriff who gave us some good tips, and he said the herd further north...
I know when I do run into other hunters, I like for them to chat with me...I’d rather run into them once than over and over because I guessed wrong on where they would go. Most of the time, there’s so much ground to cover, a 5 minute conversation ensures solitude for the rest of the day...
How do you like that version of the gun bearer? One complaint I read said it pops open, and being on the back instead of under the arm, it can fall where you can’t catch it? Have you had any problems with that? Also, do you have to remove the pack to get the gun reset in it? Thanks!
I saw the Evo 40/56 in the catalog, and thought i might take a look at it in the showroom next week as well.
It seems like the 5900 cinches down pretty good, so that it is not too bulky if I don’t need all the space. I’m leaning toward the larger bag, since I can only get one. My thinking is...
Ok, guys...I’ve been combing the forums, searching the websites, and scrounging through catalogs. I think I’ve decided to go with a Stone Glacier pack as an upgrade this year. I have a MR pop-up 28 that I love for daytrips, but I’m looking for something that will carry a bit more, and still...
I use the 178 for ELD-X.
66.5 gr IMR 4451
Win mag LR primer
COAL 3.359 (just fits the Tikka mag)
Well under 1moa, with the limiting factor being my shooting skills 😂
I got one just before season last year. I got it for a daypack, and it works great in that application. I only packed one deer out with it, but thought it did a good job. It's a great pack for what it was designed for!
I’d consider partial trades locally for:
Stone Glacier Solo Pack bag (new version with Spotting Scope pocket)
Stone Glacier Sky 5900 Pack bag (new version)
Stone Glacier Krux Evo Frame Size Large
Tikka t3x in 6.5 creedmoor, stainless
May consider other trades for light weight 6.5 creedmoor...
