    2024 fly-in Caribou

You're not kidding @VernAK. I just read many of the proposals for the Western, Interior & Eastern Arctic regions. Things are looking pretty grim up here. Here's the link to the proposals for individuals wishing to get a sense of the atmosphere here in Alaska right now. I definitely wouldn't be...

Are the any Ski Areas left out West that havent been ruined?

My wife and I have often discussed the impact ski areas have on real estate and social environments. As a result when looking at future real estate or places to move to we are looking at areas that do NOT have ski areas anywhere nearby!

    2023 Goat on Kodiak

Congratulations on your first Kodiak hunt....it sure won't be your last I'm sure! Thank you for also journaling and writing up what happened. It is fun to read the ups and the downs that always come with hunting a new place especially Alaska.

    McComb Herd Quota Reduced

"An social media troll is a person who shares unwelcome content within an online conversation to purposefully instigate an argument with one or more people. Sometimes the troll continues to participate in the discussion, while other times, they sit back and enjoy the chaos they've created." Does...

    alaska unit 1C or 4

I think your first call should be the biologist in Juneau. If you can make the visit to the office in Douglas then you can see how many points are available in the subunits there. That should help you narrow down where to go. As for when to go, some of that will depend on how short of days...

    Kodiak Deer limit change

Finding and shooting deer on Kodiak is easy. Finding deer in Southeast is very different unless doing a winter beach hunt.

    2022 Alaska Draw results

Bob, I don't think anyone is going to give you any freebies on this one. Giving up where to go or how to go sheep hunting info that stays on the internet for the next 100 years or more is something that most people don't want to do. If I had drawn that tag, I would contact a couple of air...

    Mt Ranier

I think you should do it. A few years back my friend and I decided that we wanted to do something fun after we returned from our deployment to the sand box. We tossed around a few ideas and ultimately decided Rainier would be a good fit in terms of something we could do with limited...

Canceling a bighorn hunt in Alberta

If you define a "trophy" hunt by the inches you hang on your wall, and you already know you'll get more inches south of the border then I think you already answered your own question. Hunting hard in the exquisite beauty of the Canadian Rockies even if coming home with no horns sounds like a...

    BC Late Goat 2023

I use Black Diamond crampons on all my goat hunts. I couldn't imagine doing a hunt (especially a November hunt) without them. They really are a safety device, and like a headlamp if you need it, then you REALLY need it.

    Feathered Friends vs Western Mountaineering

I have both. They are fantastic bags and once you get one of these bags you'll never want to buy anything else. Actually do your pocketbook a favor and don't get one, they are like guns and you'll always find a reason to get another one!

Delta Controlled Use Area Sheep Tag - Non Residents Gain Tags

I read through the recent recommendations to the BOG, and nearly all of them believe that NR should have fewer allocated tags. Additionally there were many comments suggesting changes for Guides. Do you think there will be any changes made from the BOG that will actually be beneficial for sheep...
